Because it isn't.
Every time someone says it "looks impressive for a mobile game" what they really mean is that it's impressive for a device the size of a graphing calculator with absolutely terrible controls that produces 95% shovelware...so not really impressive in the grander scheme of things.
I am not a fan of mobile ports of games, mostly for the generally better features that are offered and are never brought to the main/original game.
Dead by Daylight's mobile port has fancy cosmetics and game modes (only recently was the main game lucky enough to get like one (1) outfit ported over every several months).
While not a direct port, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp has pretty much all the old furniture sets from older games in addition to thousands of new furniture that animals can interact with. New Horizons was very anemic in comparison, even missing core features from previous games that were never added in. Pocket Camp got like 7 years of support and updates, New Horizons got barely a year of drip-fed content that should have been available at launch.
FFXIV's mobile port makes me a bit nervous. We're already in the midst of a middling expansion and the content drought feels more noticeable than ever before, I'd rather not see the attention be focused on the port.
Yes. I know mobile ports are made by entirely different teams, and the monetization is what enables them to add these new features anyway. But if the mobile game winds up getting some neat QoL changes or features that have been wanted in the main game for a long time, I might have an aneurysm.

Like you said, it's made by an entirely different team... and has been worked on for the last 5 years. Just like FF16 had been worked on for 7-8 years prior to release. People need to stop thinking that working on other games will "suddenly" take away from FFXIV. It won't. If there is a problem with this game at all, it's related to decision making and the strategic approach to this game generally. We're already in the midst of a middling expansion and the content drought feels more noticeable than ever before, I'd rather not see the attention be focused on the port.

I'd like that bootshine animation instead of the scratching we got with Leaping Opo at least. Leaping Opo just doesn't have the same kind of impact Bootshine did, especially since my WoL uses tonfas for it

This showcase video actually addresses one of the concerns I think a lot of us had - the "main character" can actually move in 3D space, at least a little. The previous videos seemed like a fixed background. Nope, this appears to be at least the fully rendered base ARR zones.
