    How to Fix FF14

1, World Open content. The current content is HORRIBLE! What is there to do? Besides Hunts or dailies... One of my ideas to have Hunt mobs have a small chance of dropping a Mount... It would add some excitement to the Hunts. Knowing the fact that it MIGHT drop a mount.

    2. Holiday events. Again, HORRIBLE.. you talk to like 4 different npcs and event is done.. Who thought this was a good idea?

    3. Systems. They are extremely out dated. Other games like WoW have way better systems and their older then FF14!

    1. Will not change anything about the current hunting meta of just doing the train, except someone having a chance at a mount during that particular kill. It will be the exact same content.

    2. Mixed opinion on this. Sure, holiday event is possibly a little short and they could add a repeatable duty to play and have fun, but I loathe holiday events that make you grind for hours/days on end to get their rewards. That's not engaging and not everyone spends their entire holidays playing video games

    3. Which systems are you referring to that are outdated compared to its WoW counterpart?

Holiday events comes once a year so I don't mind griding at all for the loot as long it's fun to do

But it will add the excitement of kill hunt mobs. Even it's a 1% chance. But that's 1 idea, besides that there's zero to do in the open world which is bad

Glamour, it's the worst out of all the other mmos..
Moogle trove has trash rewards.. WoW has something called Traders post and that blow away Moogle Trove
Same with Trust system. WoW does it better

fates, and with the addition of the shared fate system in Shadowbringers, you have an incentive to run them
but then people would argue that it's boring

I think it would be nice if they expanded open world content
GW2 is pretty fun in that respect, and maybe they can do something akin to the mastery system now that we've reached level 100
The developers did seem to not want to go further than that

I'd also like to see them implement something like points of interests, and map completion

I'd love if for killing each individual hunt 1,000 times it gives you a mount of it. I mean there are so many good looking hunts that would make great mounts. I don't like RNG so a fixed grind is preferred. But I don't see how this would fix FFXIV at all as there are already lots of things to grind from hunts, including mounts. And lots of grinds generally (just that people on these forums don't care about, so why would they care for more hunt mount grinds).

Holiday events being better would be good, but given they only happen occasionally, I also don't see how that would "fix" the game.

As for systems, do you mean that just because WoW's systems are more complex, that they are better? FFXIV has long taken a simple is better approach - in fact, that is what differentiated it from other MMORPGs and gave it a unique selling point. How simplistic and easy it was ie. teleport everywhere to reduce travel tedium, killing only 3 enemies for quests, dungeons take 20 minutes or less, raid prep is just "buy it all off the market board", etc.

So FFXIV's simple system is intentional. If they wanted complex systems, they'd just copy and paste FF11 (like they began to with 1.0 and we know how that went, and like they tried to with Eureka which was received poorly on these forums at the time). It was the problems with 1.0 that led us to where we are with less tedious systems. Teleporting everywhere was in response to criticism of having to run everywhere and it costing a lot of finite resources, etc.

Literally just more stuff to do, more often. I'm not a game designer so I'm not gonna write a book on how to do this, but it's common sense that if you're charging people monthly for a service but only delivering new content once every four months, people are gonna just leave for four months. And the way the content's staggered and predictable means someone can safely say "oh, this four month hit is gonna be trash, so actually I'll come back in 9 months." This is how FCs die. This is how friends lists evaporate. This is how in game communities fall apart. Stop encouraging people to take breaks as an excuse for being too inept to just recycle an event or do the bare minimum. This game has over a decade of old events and old content just sitting in the closet but you wanna act like you can't just revive old events once a month, or cycle your unreals instead of keeping the same one for months, or just ticking a box to reactive a mogtome event or something? It's sheer laziness and people see it.

And that's not even touching on the embarrassing cutscenes/writing in this "story focused mmo." Or the jobs whose animations generally lack any impact or feeling, and all revolve around a two minute egg timer. Maybe you get a variation at the 1 minute mark as well, if you're lucky. I've played 20 year old 2D f2p korean mmos with more oomph behind their classes than this one has right now. There are solitary dudes in their basements who mod the skill animations to give them more oomph and then release them for free and they don't even have the support of your company's coffers. There's just no return on investment right now. Even if you raid, aka the only content in this game that seems to get any attention atm, the amount of actual content you get to do each week is abysmal because you're obsessed with timegating everything to a weekly schedule. The result is that after tuesday passes, it's rough getting anyone to want to do anything.

So what is there?? If you're a casual, you've been told you won't see jack until later in 2025. If you're a raider, I guess you can bang your head against a single new raid, and then relog every tuesday to clear savage like it's your second job. That'll be 15 a month! "Why are people leaving???" like dude just give people something to do. Foray + Relic should've been out in .05, it's stupid to backload your most replayable grind content like this.

As a WoW Mount farmer, that 1% drop rate on mounts can stay far far far far FAAAAAAAAAAR away from FF14. We're nearing 15 years of farming Baron Rivendare's Deathcharger and not getting it.

While the Transmog system has some better things to it than the FF14 Glamour system the Glamour system has some better things than the WoW system. Being able to Dye gear is a HUGE bonus over WoW's system where matching gear from different sets can be absolute hell. And for all the crap SE gets over Hrothgar and Viera hats... Dracthyr only being able to tmog belts, shoulders, and weapons says hello. Would a journal system be nice? Yes. Is it possible? Who knows. The Devs have mentioned they want that but are struggling with implementing it. Then again, the average FF14 character has to carry more information than the average WoW character because we can be every single class in the game on one. It's why most storage methods are on load not always accessible.

I would also like to point out that WoW's systems in many cases are more refined BECAUSE WoW is older, they've had more time to perfect. Anyone remember Void Storage that was used for Tmog originally? I do. It was essentially a worse version of the Glamour Dresser. This also doesn't even begin to cover the fact that Blizzard continues to try and reinvent the wheel every single expac which culminated in Systemlands (Shadowlands).

Is FF14 perfect? No. But saying they can fix it by just stealing things without understanding that there's a huge difference between what is under the hood is a bit much.

I would personally love to see more open world stuff. Being able to explore dungeon areas without a time limit and stuff would be nice too and I will admit in many ways the WoW world is more immersive because there are more nooks and crannies to get into that I would love to see come more into FF with less invisible walls stopping that.

Keep 1% mount farms as far away from FFXIV as possible, thank you very much, it's something I outright do not want to exist in this game, it is like a poison that could taint other things.

We already have 1-2% drops for minions from dungeons and it just makes you give up trying to get them that way.
