can we NOT add more jobs until they determine what they are doing with the ones they have? fix whats broken FIRST, then they can add new ones.
#FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE

As much as I like to see new stuff, I have to agree. No new jobs or races until they fix what they have.
I grow weary of the industry practice of release broken and fix later.
SE needs to do what Sony did with EverQuest 20 years ago to fix player issues and create a player council that signs NDAs and reviews their content before release.

WoW tried that whole 'player council' thing, it became entirely vestigial about a year after it was established... probably because they only did it to save face during the exodus. I'd expect something similar to happen if SE did it.
We've got to have... money...
I doubt FFXIV would ever go in that direction, but if it did I'd be satisfied with this. My first draft of Chemist even had them using guns (or chemical sprayers) since that was one of Chemist's weapons in a past game.I don't know about adding it as a whole new job, but I did consider it a possibility as a "dual role" that a MCH could take if they wanted to heal instead of DPS (by swapping their entire kit into doing so, this wouldn't be a cross skill build kind of deal), assuming of course all jobs were given an alternate role as well as *maybe* a way to help facilitate more tanks and healers by allowing people to turn their favorite DPS into one of the more sought after roles, or to let tanks and healers take a break and not feel like they destroyed queue times by doing so.
Let that WAR keep the group healed, let that WHM remind us why the job was the opposing force in the War of the Magi, let that NIN dodge tank, etc. Wouldn't do anything to help job balance obviously, but at least it would be something else to do/make people want to level jobs they had no interest in because it can now do a role they're interested in.
Now their weapon would probably just be... a flask. Or a mixing rod. Mortar and pestle?

My outline for a Chemist healer: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/513527-Healer-Concept-Draft-Chemist
Been wanting this. Had the idea that the job would be Garlean in origin. They were battle-medics for their armies until magitek healing and conscripts with healing magic made them obsolete. Unlike the Reapers, practitioners either retired gracefully, or took up magitek. Job trainer could be an older guy that use to be one, who's been improving and refining the craft with alchemical advances learned from Radz-at-Han and Ul'dah to improve it to the level of magitek/magic healing. However, they are too old to take the field to test their improvements, they entrust a job stone that includes their memories to the WoL to test them in their stead and help re-establish the science as a true contender in the healing arts.

I was originally going to include a snippet in the OP about what I thought the lore could be, but I decided against it. My idea was that it used to be a part of the Radiant Host back during the developmental years of Radz-at-Han, before being phased out partly due to the growing prevalence of magic and partly due to all the masters of Chemist disappearing mysteriously in search of Panacea.Been wanting this. "Before Alchemy as Eorzeans know it today was created in Ul'dah, it was the crowning science of Thavnair, whose skilled practitioners were able to make wonders atop centuries of research and insight. However, this artifice was not the only form of alchemy that existed during these times--for ages, the warriors of the Radiant Host worked to attempt to fit the ideals of Alchemy into their regiment, and the principles of the Chemist were born as a result. Shaped as a field medic capable of creating a variety of potent salves and cures with great expedience, the Chemist saw much use in Thavnair as it grew into its current state. However, at an unknown point in time, the Chemist fell out of use as its masters vanished in search of the ultimate medicine. Whoever follows in their footsteps may find themselves chasing the selfsame goal."
Garlean origin sounds good too. I honestly couldn't care less as long as we get the Tactics outfits as artifact gear.
And NO, the Ivalician Chemist's Set doesn't count. It doesn't have the bag.![]()

I am so sad we've not got a potion throwing healer yet. It feels like an aesthetic that we don't have yet and Chemist has been requested for SO long. They even gave Brayflox potion throw animations in the EW role quests, and even felt like they teased Apothecary in post ShB, so that could have been an easy name for it.
