    How to add Plunge and Rough Divide back in an easy way

    A lot of people seem to want these back, and of course the largest issue is even if they had 10 potency you would be required to use them unless they had a GCD. So the easiest way to add it back in then would be to tie it to a GCD. The ranged ability on both jobs is not going to beat out any other GCD.

    The thought is, whenever you use Unmend or Lightning Shot, it could apply a permanent buff (similar to Soulsow on Reaper) that gives you Plunge or Rough Divide ready with a low enough potency that it's only a small bonus. That's the best I was able to think of it being added to the game in the least harmful way possible.

    Also as a bonus it may actually make Enhanced Unmend not a meme if it was tied to it.

    Anyhow, how would you add these back in without it turning into just another ogcd?

    Couldn't it also just work if using Unmend/Lightning Shot/Piercing Talon just applies a buff that turns Shadowstride/Trajectory/Winged Glide into Plunge/Rough Divide/Spineshatter Dive to make up for some of the damage lost from using those?

    This is the best compromise IMO, as it would reward players for proper disengagement and keeping uptime with their ranged attack

    I realize I may have worded it awkwardly but that was what I meant, literally shower thought before coffee lol. They just added a ton of abilities that change with conditions, it really does seem like an easy cool thing to add.

    So it is! My bad. I initially read that as turning them into GCDs that only become available after using the ranged attack but in hindsight that doesn't make any sense. I'm a fan, assuming they're unwilling to just revert it to what it was before 7.0.

    I would add that it should be a stack, and the Plunge/Rough Divide spends all stacks to cash in that potency bonus.

    This is more a future proof against extended disengagement scenarios.

    Easiest way is to give it a range requirement. Monks Shoulder Tackle had that in ARR. Then you cannot just weave it into your burst window.

    I'd suggest that it can be used at short range, but does damage if used from mid-long range.

    Range 20y
    Rush to a targeted enemy's location.
    Additional effect: If the distance to target is at least 12y, delivers an attack with a potency of P.

    12y is high enough that it would take at least 2.25s to run out to the threshold range from max melee at base run speed, so running out just for the sole purpose of using it would result in clipping the next GCD. Set P high enough that it rewards the player for using it to re-engage but not so high that it would be worth purposely running out of range just to use it on cooldown.

    I was thinking that if you had no GCD rolling it'd execute a GCD-based gapcloser that deals damage and maybe even AoE damage, and uses a cool animation. If you already got a GCD rolling, that automatically is an oGCD insteads, and just slides over and deals no damage. But I like the range idea to avoid burst-weaving!

    I'd just replace the shadowstride animation with the plunge leap, it can retain the enmity generation effect and deal no damage.
