With the recent release of the futures rewritten ultimate, i do want to give credibility and say that it was a very fun fight to watch and even to practice and play. And granted the game devs, don't fully acknowledge the race that was just recently completed, the whole fight just feels a bit underwhelming especially because of several parameters that they keep themselves strict to that need to be removed. Ultimates are retellings of fights that provide inquiry and exceptional challenges to those who are brave to take them on. With Futures Rewritten, and a total of 5 phases, its hard to distinguish which of them is the toughest, due to the organization of the raid overall and the expectation of mechanics from bosses that just weren't fully present. I believe this could have been magnified immensely if they had more time. The fight feels like at some point it was much more difficult but overstepped the time limit and was reduced to a place that was acceptable as long as it was under 20 minutes.
I need the Square Enix Battle Team to really stop limiting themselves with taking it easy on the players in what their hardest content is. Because the Criterion Savage Content is arguably more challenging than the Ultimate and that should never be the case. Easily some of the changes they can make are as followed:
1. Stop limiting fights to a max of 20 minutes. An ultimate should go beyond 20 minutes and range between 25-30 minutes.
2. There is normally a puzzle found in an ultimate and its incredible when you can progress the fight without the puzzle and realize you cannot continue without it and to find it is part of the challenge.
3. The Boss HP needs to be compensated for when jobs get changed or buffed especially as the fight ages since everyone finds UCoB, UWU, TEA, and now DSR and TOP to be too easy since there is a guide and gear can sync down.
4. Mechanics need to stop being overly organized for execution. FF14 raids have always been a dance of where to go and what step to take and this needs to be tuned down dramatically.
Granted Yoshi P has mentioned that ultimates will never receive changes after their release, I think if future weapons/jobs are expected to receive their variants for older content (Viper/Pictomancer having TOP weapons) then those raids should be touched upon to create a more difficult experience especially with all the strategies that have been near perfected for each fight. Even with these strategies and tools utilized by players, its obvious that player skill has increased dramatically, and the fights need to raise the ceiling as a result of that as well.
It would be best to remove the difficulty restrictions or to create an even higher difficulty environment and put restrictions on the players that force them to always be focused and attentive to the fight. (permadeath, 0 damage, loss of LB, attacks that go through invuln/transcendence)
Just simply make extremely difficult content
