Lol... So i was thinking maybe they can have split options. Two different on and off selections for Targeting of friendly caster and targeting of enemy caster/attacker.

Well, chances are if an enemy caster is casting on you, it's probably not a buff or heal. In that case, it would be good to know that it's casting on you.
Was just looking for a thread on this very subject as it is extremely annoying, please do something about it SE.
The one huge change they need for keyboard/mouse players:
Remove "self" from being a viable name click target. Your own "hitbox", so to speak, is massive and covers like 35% of the best real estate on the screen. To try and switch targets to something right in your face requires swiveling the PoV and clicking off to the side to avoid selecting yourself .... annoying!
bumped and liked for something easy to fix ^^
Bump! This is something that needs addressing, no doubt.
The only useful aspect I can find for the castee automatically targeting the caster is the eventual tell or emote to thank them for a timely cure or buff.
But like the OP says, maybe there's another useful aspect to it. If there were need to keep this functionality for some reason not clear to us right now; and If the D. Team were more into using the targeting commands prevalent in FFXI (like <bt>, <lastst>, etc.,) one could imagine the auto-targeting feature being replaced by macros with the targeting command <lastc>, or anything equivalent, to target the last player that cast on you.

Altered OP title and added tags. Still wishing I could change the title of the entire thread. The topic should be escalated to [Suggestion] status.
