If you think that 2.0 is going to be this magically awesome way better game, Im sorry people, but the changes are going to be subtle, graphics, lag free ui, a better zone system, etc.

The insane drop rates for current endgame items are always going to be scarce. Lets not even bring Relics into the conversation.

Plus, there is a Totem system for Gaurda - your weapons will drop at least after the 9th run.

Check the second Live Producer letter before you start spouting disinformation.

We have 3 primals. Why should only one adopt a system that actually acknowledges progression? What if I don't want to do Garuda or simply can't? Ignoring other aspects of the game is not the answer.

At this point I feel like I am beating on a dead horse if I complain about the god awful RNG system this game has and an extremely non-creative way to prolong content that people are sick to death of now, but 2.0 is pretty soon. They have already said that drop rates and requirements to get the best gear will be completely different in 2.0.

But I am bored, complaining anyways!

I can halfway understand their intent with the idea of low drop rates, but it disappoints me that SE could not come up with a better solution on a low budget. I have done CC and AV a good couple hundred times, most speed runs, and all I have to show for it are a pair a gloves, "just gloves". Seriously? I see people in two full sets of Darklight and I only have gloves? I have worked tirelessly for these Darklight pieces since the dungeons have been released. I put in a good 6-8 hours a night and almost all day on weekends, most of the time consisting of dungeon runs. What do I have to show for all of that time I have put into your game SE? Gloves, just gloves. I would understand if I lost /random's, but I have never seen my Darklight pieces I want drop except Darklight Caligae, which I fairly lost.

Patch 1.21 came in at early March, making it lets see....five or so months I have been running these dungeons religiously and only gloves. Good job on prolonging your content SE! I really feel like all my hard work playing(and paying) for your game has really paid off.

I did get a stroke of luck however on Garuda, which I was shocked and amazed. I am a main Dragoon, and my first Garuda kill, the spear dropped. At the same time, I was confused, because I ask myself "What have I done more that I deserve this?", absolutely nothing. There are people in primals and dungeons who work tirelessly and religiously to get these weapon/armor pieces for months and always come empty handed, while someone gets it thrown into their hands only in a few runs. While I will not say the person in full sets and have all weapons didn't work hard for them, but speaking generally here, why does someone who can put half the effort get all these items when someone who works tirelessly on your game can get nothing? Seriously, how does this make sense, SE?

Then someone will ask me, "Why play then if you feel it is a waste of time?". While I do believe this game is a waste of time, I with a grin on my face still believe in the company, and believe 2.0 will be the best MMO out there, even potentially be one of the best FF's ever. I wish to support this any way I can, rather it give feedback in their current version or just throwing ten dollars a month at them. The community and my friends being another strong one. Square has given me nothing but happiness since I was a kid, and I like to believe they can do that again with this game. So I still play in hoping one day they will give me that same feeling as the first day I played Final Fantasy VI.

However, SE, what I believe you are doing to prolong content now is horrid, immoral, illogical, tiring, tedious, non-creative, and lazy. This list could keep going. This system cannot be properly justified, it just can't. If you believe you can justify it, I would love to challenge you on that.

Sorry, just gets me in a ranting mood whenever this topic comes up. >_>

I doubt this is the problem. SquareEnix has come a long way since released and made this game bearable. To say bad planning and bad programming is foretelling the future of 2.0 is not giving them ANY credit what so ever. Im sure they did what they did for a reason and in my opinion ...

    - Easy Content Will Get Boring!
    - High drop rates will just get people their gear and never make them run it again.

Making something difficult and giving it low drop rates actually makes people want to keep going and trying, instead of having everything just given to you. If you look at a lot of new MMO's compared to old ones, you are left with the same problem ... everything is just too easy to get. Though I hate to use this analogy but its probably the best one ... Why do you think people always complain that they love Old World of Warcraft compared to the Newer expansions .. cause content was an actual challenge.

Now I am new to this game and I don't know much, this isn't a ill gesture remark to anyone who downgrades the game. Its just food for thought. Cheers.

Funny, because I've been going at hamlet for about five hours a night for two entire months, and have yet to be done getting my seals just to start the relic quest. I've pretty much given up on that due to the drop rates being terrible.

Challenging content is fine and dandy. I welcome content that's legitimately difficult. But Ifrit/Mog/Hamlet aren't difficult. They're repetitive, and oftentimes you see very little reward for the effort that you put in.

Well it all varies on a person as well. I know I rather work hard on something then to do a boss battle once and be done with it. Which reminds me of when "Ragnarok Online" (Official Servers) was a big thing. People would grind day and night just to obtain 3-5 levels and would farm MONTHS to get the cards they need for gear ... But they stuck it through because they really wanted it && It was never a easy task.

    Also...

Hate to bring it up, but people and Warcraft deal with it all the time. You really can not expect much especially from a game that is righting all their wrongs. At the very least a lot of people should be happy this game is bearable! LOL

If they had handled Ifrit and Moogle loot like Garuda from the start I think more people would be satisfied. At least with Garuda, AT WORST with sub-10 minute runs you're guaranteed to have all the weapons after 140 runs, and it's almost a given you're going to get actual weapon drops within that time period. I personally had 3 weapons drop by the time I had enough totems to buy 3.

I didn't really bother with Moogle, but I did over 100 Ifrit runs and all I had to show for it was the Axe and Sword (which I'm grateful that I got) and 3 duplicates of the CNJ staff. The game should be smart enough to not even try to roll you an item in which you already have if your roll earns you the chance at an item.

Some good news at least is Yoshi-P said in one of his latest interviews that dungeon gear won't be dictated by speed runs anymore. I just hope they can devise some method like Garuda where you know you're GUARANTEED some loot with enough successful attempts.

I honestly didn't mind WoW's loot system too much where you were guaranteed two pieces of loot per boss; it was just totally random what you'd get. You could sometimes get the exact two same pieces of gear for weeks in a row and that could get frustrating since you were typically only playing one class every raid. With each character being able to play every class in this game, at least once your people got their main role gear, the rest could be spread out in case they want sets for their other jobs. If they also introduce harder modes of a fight, they can award different and better versions of gear.

WoW is progression based, FFXIV is luck based.
