I always thought DRK as a solo job was pretty meh. Think it's utility will depend on whether the pros figure DRK+AST+?? is worth it or whether the premades are gonna go quad-AST or trip-AST+guard-breaker.

As for the OP, well it's already been said. You've likely only seen high damage from perpetually ignored vipers for the most part. The patch notes sure made me groan, and I have a couple quick tests to do while in-game but for the most part... yeah... it's not the most ideal change. Making -50% damage taken not drop during Blacklash would've been a great start tbh.

K, I don't play VPR, they just weren't on my radar as a threat.
