Should the devs remove the tier number?

As in making it invisible to other players while you are going into matches? I agree, that can be removed.

If players actually behave like this and make decisions based on what your actual skill tier is (i.e. making sure you stay in Gold when they see you are currently Gold 1) then this shouldn't be public information anymore - it sucks, but it is what it is. Crystal Credit can debatably be fine though.

Personally I'd prefer if they just dropped the Stars & Riser system altogether and brought back the actual rating system we used to have (Feast era, basically ELO).

Sorry to off-topic a little, but this is my first PVP season and the whole riser thing has me confused. I was expecting an ELO style thing.

How do stars and risers actually work in terms of losses? Can we actually drop down from say diamond to bronze, or do we just go down from say diamond 1 to diamond 5?
