How do I spend more than 1 hour doing content in this game?

Need I remind you that this particular thread of discussion was spawned by you answering someone who was lamenting the fact that people only recommend old content, or savage raids which are not everyones cup of tea?

For the short term memory people like yourself:

Ahh yes, the person complaining that there is no current content to do in this expansion, but also doesn't participate in the 50% of content every major patch cycle has?

The only thing that bothers me when those threads show up, is that absolutely no one has ever things to recommend at current content.

Everytime, people just say: "Go do this content of 10 years ago!" and I get it. It is relevant, it can be fun, but it is not fresh.

And this lack of "fresh" doesn't make it enticing. It is the formula o XIV, but it is an absolute bother of mine that you are meant to *not* spend time in the current new expansion you just bought.

Because often there is nothing to do. No gameplay, anywhere, only in older content to revisit.

Literally is actively saying they don't want to do older content, fair. But they are also stating that you aren't "meant" to spend time in the game with the current expansion WHILE ALSO stating they don't do the content that just released which actually takes time to complete.

And then we actively excuse these people on their preferences.

Again, you cannot state there is no time consuming content being released in the game WHILE ALSO saying you choose not to engage in the content that is time consuming. That is a direct and glaring contradiction.

You are, again, super conveniently ignoring the issue at hand that this person has been lamenting. Let me redirect you to a post a bit further up:

Arguing that ultimate constitutes content when the major prevailing argument (which you fully understand) is a lack of CASUAL repeatable content is just arguing technically true semantics for the purpose of diluting the actual argument

What we got this patch so far was one Extreme, the 24 man, and the Ultimate.
If you are not into the Ultimate, then that is no real time consuming content. The Ex fight is a 12 minute fight after prog, and the endgoal of that is mount or 99 clears. The 24 man you run once a week.
However, if you want to gaslight yourself into thinking that is enough, then be my guest, I am done talking to a wall. :v:

That person does, at most, Extreme content.

The only guaranteed "lasting" content in 7.1 is the Ultimate, which can take groups weeks to months to prog, learn, and complete, and that kind of content is definitely not for everyone.
Not saying this content is bad, I am happy that raiders have this kind of content, but you have to admit that Ultimates is not something with widespread appeal.

Any content in this game has the appeal you allow it to. If I for example only considered Gold Saucer as "fun and engaging content" and actively stated there was no content being released in the game because Gold Saucer didn't get an update (which maybe gets an update every other major patch?), I should be dismissed for an objectively wrong opinion. If I choose to then avoid PVP, Hunts, Crafting, Island Sanctuary etc, how can I then make the argument the game has no content, in the current expansion, that is time consuming?

Savage / Ultimate are literally HALF if not sometimes more (in the case of this patch), of every major patch cycle in XIV. If you still choose to not do this content, then you are literally gimping your sub experience by half. That's a choice you are ACTIVELY making. We all agree on this.
This same argument I'm making can also be applied in the reverse. There are people who beat Savage and Ultimate Week 1, and then say the game has no content, while also being unwilling to engage in all other forms of content.

My point is simply, don't say the game doesn't have content in DT. Say the game doesn't have content YOU want to do. That's perfectly fine.
