If a product ceases providing an adequate return on the money you put into it, you should cease putting money into it. I don't know why people give MMOs a pass on this.

"But Im invested!" - if you aren't getting back at least what you're putting in, that's a bad investment. Throwing good money after bad isn't going to help.

"But I got friends!" - and if they are your friends, we live in the age of instant video and audio communications. You can still talk even if you quit. If they don't want to talk cause you quit, hate to break it to you, but those aren't friends. They're coworkers.

'I have good memories!" - Awesome! Quitting won't take those away from you, and you can be thankful to the game without being beholden to it. Besides, one day the game will be shut down, and there will be nothing but good memories. So if it's only giving you bad ones now, why shouldn't that day be today instead of 20 years from now?

"I'm addicted, and complaining on the forums is the only way to feel good about it" - Well, I suppose the first step is admitting you have a problem.
