Oh so he wants us to pay 14 to play other games
That is just so hilarious worse than my original implication I’m struggling to even reply
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
On the chance that I sound like a broken record: not everyone is a raider, not everyone enjoys "this is a room with a boss" raids. Most combat content in this game is "this is a room with a boss" raids at this point. All meaningful, repeatable PVE combat content in Patch 7.1 (with the exception of the 24 man raid) is "this is a room with a boss" raids (Sphene Ex, FRU, Chaotic). And the 24 man is something that is only meaningful for a single run per week (possibly 2 if you are unlucky with drops).
FF14 used to have a wider variety of content to play that was not "this is a room with a boss" raids. People wanting that kind of content should not be met with "just play content you don't like", but with an appeal to Square Enix, asking "where is that content you promised?". Relic Grind should not release a year after expansion release, it should drop earlier either with a Field Operations instance or a Deep Dungeon.
Having a variety of different kinds of things to do in an MMORPG is a net positive for every player of this community, regardless of their own interest.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
But he acknowledges that 14 isn’t holding people adequately with his “don’t leave” comment but instead of upping the content volume and speed for players who are struggling with content cadence according to you the answer to the problem is to…….not play 14 (but keep paying for it)
You are right it’s not a contradiction, it’s just stupid AF logic that’s basically asking the customer to pay them for their failure to hold onto players

You are not wrong. But...he also knows he is speaking to some gamers who paid to play 1.X until the servers shut downBut he acknowledges that 14 isn’t holding people adequately with his “don’t leave” comment but instead of upping the content volume and speed for players who are struggling with content cadence according to you the answer to the problem is to…….not play 14 (but keep paying for it)

I think i'm reaching the point that unless they up the weekly caps including savage (or change it to a system like the new alliance chaos) then i'll end up dropping my house and moving over to paying every other month to spread the content better.
Yeah I know it’s a shocker that people don’t wanna learn a fight for over 3 months with completely random people in pf and rather wanna do content they can do farm as solo while they relax. Imagine actually having fun stuff to farm in this game and not farm the same dungeons over and over again for a gatekeeping cap that should be increased 8 weeks ago and the same with savage lookouts.
Like by all means I’m not a “casual” but I can understand the need for some fun and rewarding content that has longevity

You can not in good faith make the argument that the game doesn't have any content to do, while actively ignoring the content that is released.Yeah I know it’s a shocker that people don’t wanna learn a fight for over 3 months with completely random people in pf and rather wanna do content they can do farm as solo while they relax. Thanks.
So basically, you ignore the fact that people are allowed to dislike raids, and claim that there is no content for them to do if all of the game is raids? So basically, ya'll prove my original point of the game DOES IN FACT get content, people just choose not to engage with it and then complain it doesn't have anything to do. Thanks.
You are not arguing in good faith either, so I guess this discussion is over![]()

Incorrect. I am arguing you cannot say the game doesn't get content, especially long lasting / evergreen content as that is objectively incorrect.
People should instead state, "When FFXIV releases long lasting content that could occupy me for a few months, I am actively choosing not to do it because I don't like that type of content." That would be actually true.
If people want to dismiss arguably 50% of the game released every major patch cycle while also claiming there isn't enough content, your argument really doesn't have weight.
