I believe this was tried (at least for combat) back in Heavensward with Battle Leves. You can still check what was available. I expect it went nowhere after that because of lack of participation. The first idea that comes to mind is an option between what we have now and more involved quests(or a single quest, possibly costing more allowances either way) that focus almost exclusively on combat/crafting/gathering. They should obviously give more rewards, but I'm not sure if rep should be one of them or if XP/tokens/tomestones would be enough.
You could get up 15 to 30 minutes earlier to do a roulette if you want. ^^I typically have 10-15 minutes between being ready for work in the morning and actually needing to leave for work. I cannot do a roulette in this time because most of them take longer than that nowadays, and if I'm leveling a DPS, I will still be in queue when I need to leave for work. I use this time to do society quests to get a quick boost of XP on DPS jobs and crafters, and I save roulettes for after work when I have more spare time.
When I'm reading in the forums I also see people for whom content can't be over fast enough. They don't want to be bothered with content just one second longer than necessary. And if a dungeon run takes longer than 12 to 15 minutes it's already annoying to them.Daily quests can have substance while still being quick, an extra two minutes of quests so they aren't just "talk to npc" is not going to immensely hurt you or your schedules but is IS hurting the quality of the game and its worldbuilding. But go ahead and "appreciate" quickness and pretend you don't mean SE's laziness.

what are you guys even doing after 5min evening filling tribe quests?

If i remember correctly when the dailies were more involved... people complained.Come on.... you can do better this crap, I did 2 dailies that took less then a minute to do, Talk to a npc and pick up a bag off the floor...
WTF? How is this engaging? I cant believe it took them this long for this patch and thats all we get.. im so close on unsubbing from the game

People complained about the structure of HW’s areas being annoying enough that it made content in them unfun not that more involved dailies were bad
People used to hate the vanu not because the actual tribe quests were bad but because the sea of clouds is pointlessly large and both its aetherytes are in the bottom left corner of the map
Quests like the vathh where they slowly scaled beyond their home base based on tribal level and they offered you a good mix of everything people were totally fine with
The quest chain in Lydha Lran was pretty engaging with some okay combat. Dunno if people whined about it taking too long. If they did, welcome to "Do you have business with me?"

This is my favourite video game. Every day I'm allowed out of my enclosure for 9 minutes and 59 seconds and I get to press the button on this device EXACTLY ONCE and watch the number increase by a whole integer and then I put it away and don't look at it again until the next day.
If I speak at one constant volume
At one constant pitch
At one constant rhythm right into your ear
You still won't hear
