help i randomly get Directx error crash.

so i have a Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050, got it brand new before DT started.
before DT my game ran fine at high graphics with this GPU.
since DT i would randomly get 0-3 directx error crash every day or and some days it wont happen at all.
right now im running the game in standard (laptop) settings and this directx error still happened and i still get 60-85% GPU being used.
my driver and Win11 is fully updated with a clean install, my PC is custom built, my game can run at high graphics but at the cost of having GPU at 85-95% if it hits 100% the game gives up and crashes, if a GPU is suppose to be 95-100% usage then something else is causing directx error.

im wondering if malware is causing high GPU usage, but my PC looks clean and i dont have a way to find out if it is malware or not.

when i first boot up my PC i see a black CMD box for like 0.3 of a second, is that malware?

rarely i will notice my GPU doing something weird, like on my screen will have blocky effect and lines going down for half a second, and 1 time textures in game were broken or nonexistent to me.

i also found out that the RTX 3050 is like a cheap version of a good GPU, so is my GPU just poorly made?

Edit: i even refresh Win 11 by reinstalling it and i still get this directx error, i also tried reinstalling directx 11.

Mine is a 3060 and is fine. 3060 is also a cheap version, but not the cheapest. You can get the more expensive ones, but you probably won't need the more expensive ones.

The expansion was designed for a 2060 on full specs. You graphics card is about 20% worse than that, but it should run pretty well in practice.

The only thing that confuses me about the picture is it says 83% utilization. Mine is only 17-33%, despite using more GPU and dedicated memory. But the amount the game is using is within the limits of your specs.

"83% utilization" yes i was in pvp and in a raid when this happens, i thought being in duties will make it go up to 85%+ and thats with medium graphics, but even in a city or the open world, i still get the error randomly
i can say turning off no FPS limit helps even tho i no longer get 80+ FPS, before i was getting over 100+, so having FPS limit of display or 60 FPS limit makes the utilization lower but i still get directx error crash.

A DirectX error isn't always actually related to DirectX, I recently had a couple myself which were actually RAM issues.

This certainly sounds like a GPU issue, can you reproduce crashes in other applications when GPU utilization hits 100% to try and narrow down if it's a problem isolated to FFXIV or a general issue with the card?
Does the card handle a stresstest like FurMark?

Oh, well I limit to 60 FPS personally since I don't need more.

From looking up lines and screen glitches, this often means the GPU is faulty, which you no doubt guessed. I've seen overheating as a possibility, but the temperature looked alright to me. Memory can also be an issue, but the rest of the computer's activity looks the same as mine usually is.

I looked up the error and one person fixed it like this a few years ago (with a 3080):
"[set] gpu to stock frequency and that fixed my DirectX errors altogether. Some graphics cards come factory overclocked as well depending on the model, so you should try underclocking if your gpu happens to be overclocked. (-100mhz or -200mhz from stock)"

Another person had it caused by their memory being overclocked and another person had it caused by their Windows Time being out of sync (this can happen particularly if your CMOS battery is dying, which normally takes around 10 years at least).

idk about a stress test, i would have to have a GPU display and when i know it crash to look at the GPU % to confirm if it is at 100% or not, its pretty random when it happens so ill have to be ready at all play times.

my ram is about 50% so can FF14 cause ram spikes and it may just jump to max ram? i have 16gb of ram and been told that FF14 wants to use up to 16gb so maybe i should get more.

I have 16GB of RAM and it's fine. FFXIV doesn't use anywhere near that much. It just gives you wiggle room because Windows uses a lot itself and browsers and discord like to eat up huge chunks of it as well.

On the launcher, if you open the cog wheel on the top right before you login, can you check your DirectX settings? (assuming you can even get that far) I play on PS5 now so I don't remember exactly what it looks like.

addition: this could be of some use as well - https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...2/blog/3778736
