It's a fun game.
It's a fun game.

I only have one friend that never unsubs from this game and likely never will on purpose. Everyone else I know that has played this game gave up on it during Endwalker. They all play every MMO BUT FFXIV now. They have no interest in being forced to go through story just to get access to content, nor are they interested in spending money to skip it. In fact many people I know that play MMO's don't play this one for that very same reason. I'm here because I have a house that I enjoy and I want to see how the FFXI raid story plays out. I haven't even bothered to do the new MSQ stuff, I have no interest in learning where MSQ is headed, I am not invested at all about FFXIV's direction anymore outside of FFXI related content. If I don't see improvements to the direction of the story, viera/hroth disrespect and mismanagement, or job identity staleness by the end of the Alliance Raids, I will probably be done for a while.
I'm not even burnt out on the game, I'm burnt out on the devs. Seeing them fix the 2b leggings butt not being big enough in no time at all but 5 years later, people who purchased hairstyles or hats with real money from the mogstation or art books still can't use the items they bought if they aren't the right race. My wallet and I will die on that hill and I'll go back to every other MMO that doesn't penalize people that play two of the races they failed to introduce properly.

Once, there was a world that was so neglected, it was reduced to ash.
And from this process of reduction, its caretakers were able to birth a new more beautiful world.
The caretakers worked tirelessly, each striving for the recognition of the world’s denizens and, in time, they earned the status they oh so desired.
But, over time, the caretakers made themselves more sparse, their mission for recognition being complete.
The world, bereft of those who cared for it, started to become more putrid the more the caretakers didn’t care for it.
The denizens of the world, not knowing what to do, began to cannibalize each other, tearing each other apart piece by piece, blaming their fellow citizens for making the caretakers leave.
Others did not wish to read the writing on the proverbial wall and resorted to stuffing their heads into the ground to escape the sonorous cries for the caretaker’s return.
Others still, embraced the end, and left the world on their own terms, not wanting to live in a world they no longer recognize.
One day the whole world asked where the caretakers were, they cried out songs to make them return, to fix the things that went wrong as their world was on its last dying gasp. It was in the silence of the response the denizens realized they were truly alone and embraced the silence at world’s end.

I personally haven't seen it. FC is healthy. No issues in DF/PF. It is normal for subscriptions to wax and wane between patch cycles. When players take a break, they mostly tend to take a break in roughly the same proportions role-wise, so it doesn't really effect much that I can see.

Nope. The opposite in fact. My FC is more active than ever.

And here come the comments of "Everything is totally fine with the game, it's better than ever"

I mean tbh it is very noticeable in DF. The skill level of the average DF party has gone down drastically and dungeons take forever.I personally haven't seen it. FC is healthy. No issues in DF/PF. Right? It's almost as if anyone making a sweeping statement like that is falling into confirmation bias.Yeah, no, I'm sorry, but when I look around myself, it's the opposite, apart from one or two hardcore fans, everyone is bored to death. I even have casual players around me wondering if they won't will suspend their sub, but still hesitate because how they are attached to the game. I also have players that liked DT react like this.
So no, don't generalize on your experience. Especially pulling out some "90% of the commuty does X" out of nowhere.
"The mass exodus from Final Fantasy 14"? Please.
One of the best ways to gauge any MMO's health is via the in-game market. If you're a regular you can feel when things slow/speed up. Doesn't matter if its a complex market system like FF14/ EQ/ EVE or simplistic like BDO/ Warframe tradechat, it's a pretty unbiased and representative sampling of the player base because everyone is power/financially incentivized to take part in it on a continuing basis.
IMO the market on Oceania has cooled somewhat, it's not a complete collapse but there is definitely less activity, especially in the tradeskills materials, mounts and minions, stuff is staying on the boards longer and gaps in sourcing stuff has started to appear. Not gigantic, not cataclysmic but certainly noticeable.
