The companies do not think in IPs. They think in returns. If FF14 Mobile gives them more return than FF14 Online then they will prioritize the first. And propably cut ressources from the second. Every company does this, especially publicly traded companies. And since SQEX produced some really epic megafails like Forspoken, they need money desperatetly.
Cheers

sad thing is that this is / was probably a good idea. Mobile cash out a lot... But since we got a 4 month delay patch, no real PvE upgrade, a lot a problem of job design ... etc
It has been 6 years since since some of the core gameplay game change, 3years since endwalker 6.0 (for most known has the last good entry for msq)... come on Yoshida... wtf you doin
FFXIV is becoming really unpleasant this day if it was not for the friends we play with...
Not be the harbinger of bad news but it seems that SE is seeing the constant decline of FF14 as a sign that the main game is on the way out. So they want to ensure everything is milked to the fullest potential until it finally completely dies out.
No prosperous game ever did a Mobile version unless it was dying and they wanted to get as many funds as possible for their next title.

I think rather this is just the tax we get for how badly they managed FF7 Rebirth and FF16 not getting enough sales due to the PS5 exclusivity deal. Or the NFT Symbiogenesis thing not working out, or their cryptocurrency investments going nowhere. They're trying to use FF14's popularity to milk more money out of that loss. Not be the harbinger of bad news but it seems that SE is seeing the constant decline of FF14 as a sign that the main game is on the way out. Just speculation here though.

Good. This is what all the die hard fans wanted when they told others to vote with their wallet and unsub instead of giving feedback. Time for them to loosen their purse strings to make up for the losses. Not be the harbinger of bad news but it seems that SE is seeing the constant decline of FF14 as a sign that the main game is on the way out. Tell me five things they implemented from 0 that were generated from forum feedback.
A mobile game is not done overnight, and MMOs as a genre have been dying for a long time simply because they are not profitable enough. Every single MMO that came out and had cash-grab mechanics failed abysmally or they never saw the light of day or even worse, the entire project proved to be a scam.
Everyone laughed at Diablo 4 mobile and now everyone is trying to jump on the same wreck train and replicate its success.

From the past we know SE WANTS a mmo. FFXI was for a long time the money cow of SE. Today it's XIV. But do you really think SE can make a new mmo work when they killed the previous one with their bad decisions. Sure some will go for curiosity, but the mmo era is mostly done. Launching a new mmo is a risky, and mmo players are mostly alienated by players of the previous one. FFXIV has to have a good death, for the next SE mmo to not start with a bullet in the foot. Not be the harbinger of bad news but it seems that SE is seeing the constant decline of FF14 as a sign that the main game is on the way out. Ah, so that was one of their 'mysterious projects.'
Now we get why they’re putting less and less effort into the game and throwing our money away on mobile trash.
I don’t want to be a downer, but I really don’t think this project’s gonna make it
