I play CC primarily, I think it's a ton of fun albeit frustrating at times. Outside of all of the discussion regarding balance and how the feel of PVP has changed I've also jotted down a bunch of (mostly) little ideas that've been on my mind that I think would improve the overall experience.
- Disable camera collision with all walls and obstacles on PvP maps.
- Pressing Sprint while Sprint is already active should not disable it (or it should have a cooldown on disabling it similar to Guard).
- Your own HP bar should render on top of everything else on screen.
- MP and LB gauge should be displayed alongside/below unit HP bars.
- Heat Wave and Oasis should counter each other completely rather than the Damage Over Time occurring first (if you have <5000 HP and both effects then you will die).
- Audio feedback when you press Guard/Purify and they're on cooldown.
- Audio feedback when you press Guard/Purify and they activate.
- The scoreboard should show parallel tracks to clearly indicate who has made further progress and it should be crystal clear when a game is 'tied' at 50/50 or if one team is about to win. I find it impossible to tell in the heat of the moment.
- Party List respawn timers should include the (in my opinion too long) additional black screen and raise time.
- The icon marking your target should be bigger, bolder and easier to visually follow (especially when contending with markers or trying to rapidly tab target).
- 'Mini' should have an additional vfx of some kind (because I genuinely sometimes mistake Lalafells for mini'd opponents lol).
- Wolves Den should have some moving target dummies (eg: running and sprinting along set paths)
- You should be able to set focus target on opponents at the start of a match even though they're out of range.
- Return should be enabled for CC.
- Party List sorting should allow a PVP configuration that doesn't affect PVE (and ideally allows you to sort by job rather than role).
- Radial AoEs should consistently respect line of sight (or at least communicate if they do not). Previously Superflare did not and at least AST Lord of Crowns does not currently, not sure what else.
- HP bars should change color/appearance when <50% and <25% to indicate execute (Ninja and Reaper) thresholds.
- Screen overlay effects or enhanced visual feedback to know when you are affected by guard, stun, silence, bind, etc. Sometimes I genuinely do not know if Guard is active or that I'm disabled amid vfx.
- Some kind of simple graphic representing damage done/healing done on the other team mid-match to provide 'threat assessment' so to speak.
- Effects that counter or have a counter 'proc' (Nebula, Wreath of Ice, Chiten, Forte) should have a persistent visual for their duration or at least be more recognizable in the buff bar (order, size, maybe some kind of universal '!' icon).
