Did no one thought about the possibility that she might be sent to the future with us?
The trailer says that "the bravest of us were sent beyond time" and I'd be surprised if our GC leaders are not amongst the bravest. We have no idea when and how we will have the time jump so maybe we'll be in a situation when they are with us.
Besides they are too popular to just erase them, I guess, and they might very likely also be (new) players' favourite characters in 2.0.
To let them die would let three good character design go to hell which would mean extra work = extra use of resources on something which I at least consider quite dispensable.
I'm pretty sure no new future GC leaders would be able to compete with the old ones in terms of popularity. At least I wouldn't give a damn about any other generic admiral as I'd always compare him/her to Merlwyb.
