CC is fun

I can't judge what has happened with FL, but CC feels quite good with the new changes.

This is the first time I compete in CC, but it's a lot of fun! Only sometimes I wonder about the matching system, seems a bit off from time to time. Namely, some of my fellow combatants generate very low dmg sometimes and still managed to reach the silver tier, which is where I am at (Silver 1).

Hoping to at least reach gold or the level after in the future.

also, at least in CC, I did sense that salted earth is not as strong as it was before. It was nerfed and it shows.

I managed to reach bronze with DRK more or less quickly but then once I reached silver, not only did not see as many DRKs in the opposing team, I had to quit using DRK because I was getting stomped!

Switched to a different job and have managed to remain more often than not at the top of the DPS chart, and winning, which is what matters.

Aside from some Job balance mis-steps, CC has been pretty great since it came out.

Biggest issue aside from Purify not working properly is the lack of long term rewards. There's not much to play for once you have gotten the Rank rewards once and the Series is done in no time for active players.

It's still fun else I wouldn't play it, but the hit resolution changes really make it excruciatingly tedious to execute anything.

Fun is subjective, however the mode is now worse than before. The new hit / damage detection is complete garbage, it's now even less possible to tell what is even going on. Much less react to any of it. Also doesn't help that there is now more crowd control to go around than before.

Just wanted to share that I reached Platinum 2 today.

Getting through Gold was a breeze. I got way better matches than I did while grinding silver.

And while in Platinum I keep getting decent matches more often than not. Who knows, maybe I will make it to Crystal after all, but at least I surpassed my objective.

Not bad for a first timer in ranked CC

Don't get me wrong, but this is exactly what is wrong with PvP. Can you imagine going into WoW PvP as a newcomer as example, and getting 2k+ rating in 1-2 weeks with no real prior knowledge?
You will probably reach diamond if not crystal here, it is totally possible with time for first timer. And you are having fun which is great. But you probably already peaked, you can't get much better now, skill ceiling reached, because it is low by design.

I understand what you're saying but you are making some wild assumptions.

I have played in CC (unranked) before, I had around 50 matches more or less before the new season began.

I also have been playing front lines for at least 2 years with multiple jobs, and I have experience raiding in savage and a bit in ultimate.

So, in other words, I have some experience with PvP formats in 14 and also have a bit of a min-maxing attitude/mindset towards the game. I am not 100% brand new to PvP as you said, but I am to "ranked", where I never queued before because I did not know what to expect.

Since it's the first time I played ranked CC, I am quite happy with my performance overall, minus the horrible experience I had with silver before I could reach gold.

My pattern in silver I kid you not was sometimes win 1, lose 5 consecutive matches. I almost uninstalled the game hahaha

My pattern with gold was more or less the opposite, for every 3-4 matches won I would lose one sometimes.

Try playing during night time, also it's monday so that may not be helping you right now...
