Current state of Viera and Hrothgar

I am such an idiot!!! It just hit me only after seeing the 7.2 notes. Female Hrothgar are on the same hairstyle cycle as male Hrothgar!!! I had forgotten about a few factors from the launch of Endwalker 6.0.
I remember in the benchmark of Endwalker male Viera didn't have any of the past default hairstyles. However, in 6.0 female Viera got the first batch of them and I think male Viera had them by default.
At the time they had been working on male hrothgar's head models so they didn't get the first batch until 6.1. However, because they had the oh so wonderful idea to cut their ears off. They didn't give them more past hairstyle and instead just fixed the ears problem. Viera still got more past hairstyles in 6.2 because as I figure they treated fixing the ears as equal as giving more hairstyles.

Now during Endwalker they finally set up a system that gives every race the newest hairstyles they add to the game. This new system or rule is why female Hrothgar got the Dawntrail new default hairstyle in 7.0 along with everyone else.
However, female Hrothgar didn't get the first batch of past hairstyles in 7.0 like Viera did for 6.0. Because they follow male Hrothgar's cycle even though female Hrothgar didn't need head model reworks. That is why they got the first batch in 7.1.

Female Hrothgar don't need their ears fixed like males did in 6.2. So, no past hairstyles added this patch because they are following that cycle. This does however cause a new side effect.
Because they are unwilling to break that cycle and give female Hrothgar the 2nd batch of past hairstyles before 7.3. They also didn't work on Viera and male Hrothgar either.

For them once Viera have all the past hairstyles it won't matter if they only update Hrothgar with past hairstyles. Once male Hrothgar have all the past hairstyles it won't matter if only female Hrothgar get past hairstyles later.


However, for the time being they want to keep female Hrothgar on the same cycle has male Hrothgar had in the past. They also want to update both Viera and Hrothgar at the same time during a patch.
Once Viera is done I believe they will break female Hrothgar out of the males past update cycle so 8.2 and 9.2 should have past hairstyle updates for them. But! That is just a hopeful guess from me at this point.
For all I know 7.2 marks the start of a new past hairstyle patch cycle. Making 8.2 another dead patch for Hrothgar hairstyles and 9.2 a dead patch for female Hrothgar. Because by 8.0 I think Vieras will have them all by that point maybe.

Added in edit: I was looking forward to modern legends this patch! Now I have to wait until 7.3...

There was ZERO mention of hairstyles for hrothgals in the patch notes and usually they show a pic of something. Are we legit getting NOTHING in 7.2? That seems insane to me, that for almost all of 2025 barely any hairstyles will be added. I want the dreadlocks!

Cosmic Exploration and Occult Crescent are both going to need glam rewards and both are likely to include hairstyles. So it's probably all coming in 7.22 and 7.25 instead of 7.2 proper

Thankfully with new hairstyles everyone gets them now, but as for more past hairstyles it is going to have to be wait and see.

I really hope they give us the winning hairstyle Gold & Locs made by Efan soon. That one would look amazing on female Hrothgar.

My fellow hrothgal ladies, thanks to fellow PC folks, the 7.2 patch has been datamined, and I am thrilled to say we have seven new hairstyles coming our way (dreadlocks is one of them which has me stoked).

Really!? YES!!! Strange that it wasn't listed in the patch notes. Maybe they are holding it off until the 7.2X patches. Either way I'm so happy right now.


Edit: I got into the game. So happy right now. The Rainmaker hairstyle looks amazing! With how long 7.2 is going to last, I may grow to attached to use modern legends in 7.3.

I just validated this leak in game, and we have some new hairs to try out
I know someone in the thread wanted the dreadlocks on Hrothgal, guess you lucked out!
