I think in that screenshot the Au ra also lost her tail.

At the rate they are going I wouldn't be shocked if they just removed tails from the game and delete hats like belts in a later expansion.
Could even do something underhand by saying hats never figured into the price of mogstation items because Hrothgar and Viera pay the same while getting less in return.

This is so disgusting they might just pull it off. I'm sick of their incompetence

The irony is that it justifies me skipping over doing/farming certain content if I'm going to keep losing my tail to the glamour they keep putting out (I have no desire to ever own the new space suit from Cosmic Exploration for example), or thinking twice before I purchase anything again as I didn't read the fine print on The Warden's Attire's (stupid me for wanting to own something themed after my patron member of the Twelve I guess).

Chop off the Viera ears. Put them on the sides of the head. Chop off the Hrothgar head. Replace it with a Namazu or female Miqo'te head. There, races fixed!

Bad news everyone! On the page for the 7.2 patch, in the promotional images for 7.25 there's a picture of a Hrothgar Berserker (I think?) and he's NOT wearing a hat.
In the previous picture you can see what looks like a Hyur wearing the same outfit with a wolf hat.
So, yeah, I think it's over for us, again.

This is extremely sad, the wolf head would have looked really cute with some WAR specific glams. But also, you don't have to look at another image, just see the lalafell, it is wearing the same outfit + hat.
But I am extremely hyped for this content to finally come! However the glam hype will be a bit more stale, especially with that (Disney) Fantasia glam that could have been.

Yeah, I'm sure a large portion of Viera players wouldn't mind if their ears simply went through those wolf heads, maybe just create textures have have holes for the ears to go through.

It would be nice if the devs at least were open about it, you know?
"We can't do it because XYZ", then at least we'd know the reason.
Anyway just wait for the community to pick up the slack as usual, there will probably be ways to wear hats within a week.

After years of waiting for the female hrothgar it is very saddening to see how poorly it is implemented. Still has poorly fitting clothes, no hats and more. I changed to elezen for a joke and I've even found a piece of gear that is bugged and you lose your forearm... what is the poor quality we are getting!? SE need to get a grip, other mmo allow much better customisation of characters.

Judging from the preview pictures it seems like no. There are viera wearing the new gear in the background and without hats. This has rocketed well past beyond being a joke and looking more.... well I won't continue that sentence because I don't want to be reprimanded by the mods.
