New EX (and the Normal Version) and Motion Sickness

When the final trial for Dawntrail came out, I found myself getting physically ill at a certain mechanic's graphics. I'm talking the black and green grid floor where it warps. It's extremely nauseating. I had to walk away and lay down after the first run, and couldn't enjoy the cut scenes after.
Every time I get it in roulette, I end up half upchucking my lunch, and feeling like the room is spinning for a long time after, and getting caught in mechanics I'd usually not get caught in. And I'm not the only one who's expressed this via party chat during the trial.

Then the EX comes out, and its part of the VERY FIRST mechanic. No it doesn't last a long time, and only happens once, but when you are progging it, if the party is wiping, you have to repeat it every single time. Guaranteed. Even once you are just farming, it is one mech you will ALWAYS see.

This means I and many others very likely will not be able to do this one. Not because we need to 'get good', but because of motion sickness. I will try it, but it's likely I will never get 99 totems, so if the mount doesn't drop for me, welp. That was pointless.

Whos idea at SE was it to put in such a mechanic with such a horrible visual? You can't tell me no one on their team experienced motion sickness from this or saw how it could be a problem.

A lot of people have had some intense issues with motion sickness, photosensitivity, dizziness, etc since DT came out. SE seemingly doesn't care.

Doh that sucks. I always liked the mechanic but I don't get motion sick from it. Is there a way they can adjust it so it still has the same feel but doesn't kick off the motion sickness? What part do you think is the problem area?

I don't think motion sickness is even considered when designing some things. I remember my friend saying she had to look at the ground during some elevator sequences, such as the one at the end of Tower at Paradigm's Breech.

Perhaps post in the Suggestion's forum about them adding a graphics option for those struggling with Motion Sickness. They added an option for mount tilting because it was making some feel nauseous, so there's hope.

You open the door theres nothing in sight. You close the door wondering whats in sight. But lets be honest its probably gonna just let you down.

Everything always affects someone in a different way. I don't think they would be able to design anything anymore if they took every possible pitfall into consideration

Dont wanna be rude but sorry SE cant adjust every content for a minority, its not squares fault for your motion sickness, its not squares fault for your disability, if square would change everything for every possible aspect everything would end in a dummy, no effects, no moving, no attacks nothing

It's not like it's a small minority, many people suffer some degree of motion sickness. A lot of games these days include settings to reduce the effect of things that could cause motion sickness. It's like colour blindness, a large enough number of people have it so most games either have settings for it or try to incorporate shapes instead of colours as indicators. FF14 even has a setting where sounds are shown as a visual effect on the sides of the screen for those that are hard of hearing.

This isn't the same as dumbing down the game and making it easier because of a select few, these are just cosmetic changes that don't affect most players but help out those that do struggle from some kind of impairment. This is a far cry from, say, adding an option for have the game play itself because there are a few people out there with no hands.

It's a video game. It's not supposed to harm you physically in any way.
They absolutely should allow you to reduce motion, and not just in this fight.

When the bus stopping to open the back doors for a wheelchair user or someone with a cane asks for an occupied seat, do you rant to them as well? They're all paying customers in that situation too. Listen to yourself for 2 minutes.
