And funny they won't show that in the trailer, because they know it's bad.
Its just weird that they thought they needed to make a new trailer reusing old CGI, because people complained. What kind of pandering is that? If you do not have new CGI and possibly some gameplay, there is no reason to make another trailer. SE has some weird concept of "listening to their fanbase" and its probably going to cost them the success of this game.

The first trailer was fine. People complained about weird things like the voice over not being good enough. I thought it was pretty and the guy sounded pleasant. I liked his voice and he was british iirc, everyone loves a bristish accent...oh wait maybe not a lot of "muricans, they tend to be hateful for no reason, judging by the comments I saw about the UK after the Olympics. And these comments were not restricted to the Opening Ceremonies, which I also had a good time bashing(that was some weird shit). But 'muricans honestly just bashed and bashed the UK for reasons I cannot fathom.

Save up your gil SE until you have gameplay and new CGI, then hire Morgan Freeman to do your voice over (although there is nothing wrong in my eyes with the UK folk MF is just a sure thing if you want successful ads). Instant Winning!

    OR

You can keep reusing the same CGI and content with different voice overs. I know that shit seems to impress the forum whiteknights, I'm sure it's a viable strategy to bring in new players. smh

Okay relax. Who's wasting time reusing CGI here exactly? SE's video editor's. This probably took them like 2 seconds. The voice over is 1000x more fitting and actually feels like FINAL FANTASY. This is a FIX, and that's all it is. Relax. Breathe. Relax.

On a lighter note; I did enjoy the females voice she reminded me of Annie Lennox. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h0apAcQGPQ

I also enjoyed the music, found it powerful and uplifting.
The only twat here was the SE marketing exec who approved of the first voice over in thinking that it was "cool and exciting" and not realizing how off it was (and you're right, they should have gone with Morgan Freeman). Also, the entire point of A Realm Reborn came out of our suggestions. Are you saying that we should have just given up on FFXIV 1.0 and let it die? Why are you here if not to talk about and have a say in perfecting the game? You seem to contradict yourself. We speak, they listen... what could be better than that for any and all MMO's?

You need to rethink your position.

On a lighter note; I also enjoyed the female's voice and I love Annie Lennox.

A real reborn came out of a few peoples suggestions and more strongly a desire to emulate WoW. We will see how that turns out.

I don't understand why you ask "why are you here if you dont want to talk about the game?" As I am clearly talking about the game. I think what you meant to ask was "Why are you here if you don't want to say positive things about the game?"

Lastly, "we speak, they listen" is a really bad strategy for the devs to take. As they don't know who to listen to, since we all have varied opinions. How much to listen. When to listen. How to turn our varied, uneducated (in video game design) and silly comments into constructive ideas. etc etc etc

Im not saying SE should work in a bubble, they can see whats available out here. But simply pandering to the majority or lowest common denominator will not make their game a success. They need to be on the cutting edge. They need to define that edge with their own concepts and twists on game mechanics.

FF14 1.0 was not that bad; SP, Phy lvl/class level, optimal gear, complex crafting, mob ai, the concept of leves, etc. Some really cool ideas, but almost everything was broken, laggy and buggy. They listened to people who didn't want to see these systems fixed and instead wanted "mmo standards" and we got a watered down MMO. We will see what is left of FF14 in 2.0 as they try to make it an "easy transition for WoW players".

That gave me a hard laugh... you should check what SE is actually making money of. Final Fantasy Series is of course one of their Flagships, but hardly something they ever will put their whole budget into. Then they would have 4000 people working on it, instead of 200.

    I prefered Trailer #1.

The first one was a lot more intence.
This new one was funny. The females voice was hilarious, i was laughing. And I felt like i was going to get a seizure watching this new one, it was all just 1 seconds scene cuts.

Odin looks like he's going to be pretty important to ARR. I wonder if he descends down from Dalamud in that big sword...

In this new 2.0 Trailer, it has some pretty CG and some cool scenes, but the cutting back and forth between Meteors raining down, then to a Forest w/ Odin, to the bright Snow, then back to the Meteors, cut cut cut, etc. it feels a bit rushed and as if they didn't have enough footage to show.
While I agree with you Kiara, but All these " Short Trailers" is just a Preparation for the Full Cinematic.. More like a Teaser to the CGI.

The Gameplay Videos are coming in less than 9 days and will see what FFXIV: ARR truly is! and the other people will see the Gameplay as well and understand if it a good or bad game for them to play! .

Old trailers for the original game were better.

"So after really having that inner voice nag at me for a while, I decided to have another trailer made up, which we did thanks to the hard work of the Visual Works crew, Masayoshi Soken and the others from our sound team, and our marketing and PR teams." - Yoshi-P

Seems like it was his feelings that lead to new trailer not the complainers. This decision was probably made way before the public got to give their opinions.
