What I like about 7.1's alliance raid

I enjoy the new alliance raid in 7.1 to the point where I do it for fun first and rewards second. It's more punishing now which I like. Most mechanics punish you with a DoT that can potentially kill you if not healed and the multi-hit stacks can potentially wipe an alliance if there are not enough people alive. Some combination of attacks seem chaotic and are pretty fun to dodge. I especially like how some mechanics try to catch you off guard by preparing one attack to direct your attention while another attack is being prepared elsewhere. I'm having fun with this alliance raid so I hope they push the envelope for the ones coming next.

I went in as sage yesterday, blind. Didn't even die once, got hit by a few mechanics because i didn't know the size of the aoe's, mainly at the dragon Boss.

It is still too forgiving for failing mechanics.

When it comes to the current encounter model, it's very varied, every boss is unique, and this is probably good.

I just hate the telegraph of the cleaves in the last boss, beyond looking fancy, you have to guestimate where they start and where they all end, and they're too close to camera so it's not even possible to see the entirety of them on your screen.

Shadow Lord's cleaves are very easy. The safe zones for the first two are ALWAYS to his left or right. Just see what side it's swinging on and that's the side it hits. Then just literally stand by his legs and once the first one goes off, just run through him stand by his other leg and you are 100% going to be safe. When he starts doing 3, the third one is going to be to his front or back, so just watch to see where the animation swings, then after you run through and the second goes off, run to his front or back wherever the safe spot is. It's ALWAYS LEFT <---> RIGHT then FRONT or BACK for the third. Very very simple.

When someone starts a reply with "it's very easy", I am not inclined to listen much further. I never said they were hard. I said the telegraphs are badly designed. I've run it multiple times after the first run and didn't get hit by anything. I understand how the mechanic works: the way I deal with it is by not paying attention to the second cleave since it's always a thinner cone of safety directly opposite to the first one, so the only one that matters is the third one which can be left or right compared to the first two. It's still grossly guestimating boundaries though due to the lack of visual feedback on where things clearly end.
