What happened to scaling the Bombard onslaught?

Awhile ago I thought they mentioned they were going to scale the difficulty of the summer event as it went on. This evening I decided to try getting the last of the ash I need for my alt and it's turning into a complete waste of time. Even with a group of 6 people we either fail, or succeed in getting only one or two balloons saved. For those who haven't yet done the event or have started late they're screwed over by this. I know the event's nearly over but is there a way to scale back the bombards before then?

Or at the very least, either lower the requirements per item or yield more ash. My server alone they're going for 10K apiece on ash, up to 20-40K once that sells out.

You didn't hear? The dev team says they wish for you to waste even more of your time by visiting all 3 cities. So to your question of what they are going to do about wasting your time, their answer is they hope to waste even more of your time from here going forward.

No they never mentioned it would scale, they said I recommend you trying different places.

Go to Gridania. That region has the lowest concentration of bombards out of the three of them. I got a party of about 6 or so together and we completed it easily with all balloons every time.

Could of sworn they mentioned it would. And I've mentioned that actually, but everyone insists on doing Ul'dah instead. As it stands, everyone eventually gave up so now I'm just sitting here letting the bombs purposely destroy the balloons. It's slow and I only get a single ash, but it works...
