    7.1 Crystalline Conflict Gameplay and Job Change Thoughts

    I'm really curious to hear how everyone feels about the new kit/job changes in regards to Crystalline Conflict.

    This is also mostly me just waiting to share my woes to a space that people might feel similar. I cannot speak for all jobs, but I'm mostly going to talk about the jobs I main being RDM and NIN.

    I do not like the new style of gameplay for CC now. I was discussing this topic with a friend after running a few CC matches and the gameplay feels like brute forcing your way to the objective and which team and dump their AoE's on the crystal the hardest to wipe the enemy team. I thought CC before 7.1 was relatively balanced and fun. I appreciated that the gameplay pre 7.1 rewarded skill and strategy (there are definitely outliers of course with matches in which players who don't know their jobs, but that's neither here nor there). It feels as if the devs are switching the playstyle to have everyone condense on the crystal now it seems.

    I am sad they took away RDM's black and white shift. It was the bread and butter of their rotation and what made them really unique. What made RDM shine was it's ability to cc backline, shift defensively and offensively while building up their combo either focusing on one enemy or multiple, and close in on kills with its finisher. I played a couple of matches and the rotation feels like a homogenized caster job to me now. Sure, guard immunity melee combo and stun on Vice of Thorns is cool, but my rotation just feels like me dumping all of my DPS skills.

    With the new changes to max HP, it feels harder to secure kills especially as I main an assassin job like NIN. I have to hope I have another teammate with me whenever I chase in order to secure KOs when usually I could do this alone before 7.1.

    And please fix the hit detection on Hyosho!!!!!!!!!

    I suspect that in the new 7.1 PvP that is sadly working as intended.

    This hurts to read because I loved dueling RDM's in CC. One of my favorite fights was from a person called Ratge-something, I forgot the second half of their name. Flying back and forth as RDM, using corners, avoiding our team, finally BTFO's me after whittling me down a little and laughs at my body, but it was FUN. It was fast reactions, high damage, high stakes, I enjoyed it a LOT. RDM's are a lot of fun to fight against. Now everything is a damage pad. Everyone feels like scholar.

    I wrote a reply, accidentally deleted it, so I'll keep it short.
    I hate the changes. They appeal to frontline players who que for exp and dont want to die. Everyone becomes a damage padder, no one has carry potential, no one can one shot, everyone is "happy". Machinist losing one shot combo and gaining an irrelevant and useless "movement" skill (full metal machinist) while charging up an almost as irrelevant thing to use in CC (dynamite combo) is just a meme. It was an afterthought. Yes you could use it for big damage but everyone sees it coming a mile away, and I enjoyed using it when I could, but that does not compensate for the wet noodle LB we have now.
    MNK is another example of wet noodle flying around the map doing nothing. You dance and can't hunt down the dangerous squishies anymore. Healers have more front potential because heal + damage + no one being able to contest with high damage. DPS are doing just slightly higher damage, nerfed with no heals/shields. Square would look at my post and reply with "LETS GIVE DPS HEALS AND SHIELDS!" because they seem to be designing around the loudest complainers instead of trying to understand what makes the game fun.

    Overall extremely sad, they took the fast fun engaging PvP and made it dull. Don't care if they want to appeal to frontliners who just que for XP, please revert the changes for CC. But they won't.
    They killed fast and fun CC for me at least and its one less reason to stay subbed. Maybe some will enjoy it, personally hate it.

    RDM is now the most broken non LB melee ability that can ignore guard. L:ets nto forget they basically made NIN now 6.1 lvls of BLM broken wiht its aoe vul up and ability to basically do what it wants without even feeling the effect of CC it takes at all. Oh lets not forget they made BLM deep freeze now a regular version of miracle of nature giving a root, silence, and stun in one wihtout a draw back besides being in LB

    Red mage needs its white/black shift back. Why on earth did they remove job identity instead of building upon it? I have no faith in the dev team anymore

    Yep! I love dueling as a RDM because it challenges me to know my opponent's next move and how to gain the upperhand. With the new kit, RDM gains survivability but all the sauce and nuance that goes into their rotation is gone now =C. It just feels like a frontliner cannon.

    This is exactly how I feel about the new changes to PvP. It's like the devs designed the new kits to fit large scale fights like Frontline (which I LOATHE now after playing CC for so long). They've instead dispersed DPS numbers over skills instead of concentrating them on certain fatal skills like PR and verflare. This really drags out fights which ruins the streamlined gamemode of CC.

    Yeah... as much as we the players provide feedback about our woes, I don't think the devs will ever re-implement old CC the way it used to be... at least not 1:1. If they could somehow compromise with having the new system exclusively for Frontline and the old pre 7.1 design for CC, I would totally be on board with it. As of now, I can't bring myself to even queue for casual CC like I used to. You're right, CC is just unfun now which is a shame because PvP is one of my favorite modes in XIV.
