I suspect that what happened here is that before, it was in the "important raid effect"-category, which always shows up. Like Leylines, and some healer AoEs, etc.

Since they got told that's distracting, they now put it into the "normal spell vfx"-category. Where of course other people can hide it, but so can we.

Everyone should see it, since its the equivalent of BLM leylines. If you (general you) drop AoEs in my circle, I can't do my rotation correctly.

I do think Starry Muse was an issue. In a lot of high-end raids, precise positioning is extremely important, and starry muse is just way too big, and obscured way too much of the arena. All for a buff that only applies to one member of the party.

No other ground aoes really have this issue. Most mitigation aoes are relatively light. And as for ley lines, the fact that it's smaller, levitates off the ground, and slowly spins makes it not an issue to see the ground in limited.

I was happy to see it gone, but I never really considered it from the perspective of someone who only plays in limited. Kinda makes me wish there was some sort of compromise, like how ASTs star aoe works- where the starry outline is visible in limited, but the full explosion isn't. Maybe they could've kept the outer ring of starry muse visible, while hiding the pulsing flowers.

Precise positioning is precisely why it's important to be able to see it from a PCT's perspective. Prepositioning at the edge of your starry for movement so you can step out and hammer then step back in to cast is quite useful and lets you use Starry on cd even in movement heavy situations.

I do think your suggestion for outline in Limited and full effects in All is a pretty good compromise, but I'd much rather they give us more granular control especially for personal effects. If I could hide the painting pop ups over my head I would probably be much more willing to use All Effects as I already do on other classes.

Unless they changed it so that you no longer have to stand inside the Starry Muse to gain the buff, it is still a party buff that is now no longer visible if you play on limited. Hard to keep track of where your pictomancer placed it or if they even used it at all in some fights.

Your party never had to stand inside the field to get the party buff. That's what everyone thought and why people asked for the field to be hideable in the first place, since that was a red herring.

Yeah starry muse is 5 unique effects and the game doesn’t convey this well

Effect 1) 5% party wide damage up with a 30 yalm radius. It is a snapshot buff and applies the second you render starry muse. It does not affect and is not affected by anything else starry muse does
Effect 2) 1 free cast of star prism with a 30 second duration
Effect 3) 1 free use of subtractive pallet with a 30 a second duration
Effect 4) grants 5 stacks of hyperphantasia decreasing the cast and recast time of aetherhue spells casted within the magic landscape with a duration of 30 seconds
Effect 5) upon execution of all 5 stacks of hyperphantasia grants a free cast of rainbow drip with zero cast and reduced recast times

The party functionally doesn’t care about the magic landscape except to avoid placing AOE’s there so it’s easy to hide it when you aren’t the PCT. The problem is for people who liked playing PCT and liked playing on limited they can no longer see their own magic landscape which is the problem

As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

I came here to see why I can't see Starry Muse - even though I have it set to "Show ALL" for own. I really am disappointed that I can't see this graphic because it was a huge part of the class. I guess I will park my Picto until they fix this.

Sad that this was not fixed with 7.11. Don't like that I practically have to play with full battle effects on myself for FRU now.

I suspect that to them it's a minor issue as I would expect the very very vast majority of players to have their own battle effects on and set to full. It's more that people only change them for other players, hence whereas before the field was like Black Mage Leylines, now it's like any ol other spell effect. And hence hides if you hide your own spell effects, whereas before it showed (but since there's no distinction, also showed for other players).
