Game stops responding on or near start up

I guess I might as well post my own issue since the new patch a couple days ago. The game was playing fine and perfectly on the previous patch. But after the patch, the game will consistently stop responding either at the start, leaving me at frozen black screen or around the main menu. The furthest I got was my character select screen before I made the mistake of maximizing the game window, making the game stop responding. Since then, it seems to freeze at start up most of the time.

I've reinstalled the game and tried restoring the settings and now even restoring the game data, which basically entails me reinstalling the game for a second time. I dunno what else to really do if restoring the game data doesn't work.

I think that was the third thing I tried. But it says my drivers are up to date. Also, I think it has something to do with the new feature where the title and menu are based on your progression. I left my window open while trying to troubleshoot instead of closing it after it stopped responding and I ended up with ARR menu and trailer. After logging in and out, I had the Heavensward menu and trailer. Heavensward is where I am at. Honestly, I would take the smoother experience by just having the Dawntrail menu and trailer like last patch.

Your Nvidia drivers are not up to date.

But it is strange, that the Nvidia installer refuses to update them. Maybe the GPU is on a blacklist. An installation via the device manager could work.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Please try the following:
- Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (if applicable). This cannot be done through the device manager.
- Please try adjusting/lowering the resolution.
- Please try running the game as an administrator.
- Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything.
- Please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed to the C: Drive.
- Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup.
- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
- Reinstall game.

This may not apply to everyone but I figured out what was making my game freeze, I think. I left the game window after it stopped responding while troubleshooting and somewhere around 15 to 20mins it started working again but... I had the ARR menu and attempting to select my character tried to make me watch the trailer like I was playing for the first time. I logged in, logged out, logged back in and ended up with the Heavensward menu. They recently introduced a new feature where your menu is based on your progress. I was towards the end of Heavensward so... I think my game was freezing because of this new feature being confused on my end for some reason because now the game loads up smoothly like before.
