Is Macrocosmos bugged or is it intended? (apologies for the dumb question)

I've never played AST that much in FL, and never with other AST in my own party. However, I've noticed that, if Macrocosmos has been used by another AST from your party, your own Macrocosmos will be unusable and will become Microcosmos. I'm pretty sure I've already seen two Microcosmos as a buff on myself, so I'm wondering: Is it intended, and was changed this patch? It feels kinda weird to not being able to use your own AoE ability because of the healing action of another player
