Just a few defenders from the east who could make it to Tural to help made a mess of the Alexandrian army. Imagine the combined might of a single grand company.
The Garleans in their prime were more of a threat than the Alexandrians ever were.
That's mainly because it was terribly written, the Alexandrian army was a complete joke but somehow mecha-Sphene could harvest everyone's souls in the plotcontrivance dimension.

I know it would have cost too much to implement but I would have had us be lost for ages after we sent the Scions back using the teleportation pad in Endwalker. We would have chased Metion all over and eventually won but due to relativistic travel, decades or centuries would have passed.
We would have expended all of our energy and strength winning and getting back home so we would have been brought down quite a bit.
At this point we would have received all new megazones that replaced the all of Eorzia. Going back to the original zones would be explained away as us remembering the past but all stories would take place in the new zones.
Quite the missed opportunity for 7.0 in my opinion.

One of the DT role quest (the ranged one) has a moment where the WoL was about to get assassinated without any godlike powers, I am more surprised they didn't use that in the msq as an example.
But suddenly Dawntrail steps in and just has everyone standing there doing nothing and wasting time until the writers are ready to close off the plot because "We're too strong, if we took center stage there wouldn't be any plot" and I simply vehemently disagree. The WoL and the scions are largely reactive forces in this world, and all an enemy needs is a plan that's more than a step or two in by the time the good guys realize.

I do wonder if those who consider the Warrior of light to be some sort of demigod missed the ending of 6.0 where the Warrior of Light almost died giving their all for their star!

And the WoL takes a hit for someone in the tank one from the sleep relic and gets put to sleep. Plus we've been disabled by technology or magic before. Someone may not be able to stand toe-to-toe in a physical fight, but we can be outsmarted. Especially if someone wanted to take advantage of our penchant for running in first and thinking later.

It was alright. I like Wuk a lot more as a supporting character. Goolol is a good kid. The whole thing in Shaaloani didn't do much for me, though I like Koana. Whatever's going on with SPEEN at the end has me intrigued.

The Alexandrians aren't the real threat of this expansion. We don't know what is going to happen and where they are going to take the 7.2 and beyond story. We have speculation, but that's it. Absolutely nobody knows where they are going to take this thing. We just know what we know. Some of us don't like that and that is completely fine. I highly doubt we will be dealing with Sphene again like that. That's over and done with. Like some others have said, they know how to deal with overpowered characters like our WoL. We trounced that tech army like it's nothing because we are so powerful and have so many powerful allies. While they were a threat, it was nothing we couldn't handle. Hence why we beat them inside of the first patch. 7.1 was learning about our new friends and hearing out their story to much more detail where we've only heard fragments of it. These will very much be important later on in the script.
7.2 is going to be the start of the relic weapon chain and exploration zone. As well as the start of the next arc of this story. If that doesn't really interest you, then I guess that's that. Many people stopped playing at the end of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc. It was indeed a perfect end for many WoLs. You're not wrong for wanting to quit, but some of us do want to continue and see where this goes.

I meant melee, sorry But yea, some of those quests where the WoL gets somehow more involved and actually shows they can still be vulnerable and take a backseat instead of just watching while doing nothing. In the tank one at the end, decided to protect our companion and got sent to sleep which works too
haven't done the melee one, but your comment motivated me to do it lol. I liked that moment in the tank questline too. I feel watching the WOL stumble every now and then is nice, as currently we just feel like a terminator that never are in any real dangerI meant melee, sorry But yea, some of those quests where the WoL gets somehow more involved and actually shows they can still be vulnerable and take a backseat instead of just watching while doing nothing. I loved that part of the shadowbringers msq too, where we are at the risk of turning into a lightwarden.
