To look at these images and say "they look NOTHING like the character that went through MSQ and other content" is either incredibly dishonest or insane. There are very subtle differences but it's those differences that make them look like upgraded versions of the same character model. Without those changes, the character would not be upgraded. Expecting the game keep its 2010 graphics forever because you personally can't deal with minute change is selfish IMO.

They sure managed to update several other character models without managing to change the overall 3D model. Why not in this case as well?

I’ll just ignore the “incredibly dishonest or insane” part, as there’s a 200-page thread with before and after images proving the contrary. Some people have an eye for details, others don’t.

In the end, it’s essentially art. If you can draw a perfect circle in one medium, you should be able to do so in another. Many of the changes people are detailing have to do with the actual shapes of facial features being changed, and that’s more “artistic license” than an upgrade. And honestly, if the “upgrade” can’t properly render shapes as well as the old version, it’s either user error or not much of an upgrade at all.

I've been a female Highlander for years and use many of the same options you do. Other than a lip texture choice I'd like them to change I think the devs did a fantastic job. It is absolutely an improvement.

Even with the side by sides I honestly cannot tell the difference. Anyway there are probably mods for that

As someone who thought my character "drastically changed" from her EW/Pre-DT version. But at the same time understood that it does indeed look better, if not 100% the same. I can see where both of you are coming from.

First off, one can't just disregard how someone who spent years playing with the same character is bothered by how different their character looks in their eyes. The years spent would give someone the ability to differentiate even the most seemingly minute difference in detail on their character. A detail that would likely not be seen from an outsider's perspective. For example, i thought female Au ra didn't change as drastically as female Hyurs did. I actually thought they just looked overall better. But then i saw post of female Au ra players stating that their character looks very different from their previous iteration. I personally didn't see it (as clearly that is), since i never played as a female Au ra. But i'm not disregarding their concerns, as i don't have the same familiarity as they do.

On the other hand, Bigcheez does still have a point. The character models where most complaints were coming from are about a decade old. Bumping those older models up from 2010/2013 standards into todays will inevitably result in some changes. Whether those changes are for the better or not may depend on individual perspective. And honestly, the fact that it seems the same from an outsiders perspective (and without thorough scrutiny) means that they seem to have at least succeeded in trying to preserve the old look of most of the character models. Said outsider perspective i also do not dismiss outright. As they often tend to focus on what improved rather than what changed, if one gets my meaning.

Also, i feel like the age of these models have something to do with the little to no complaints from Viera and Hrothgar players. Since they are relatively newer.

Anyway, since we're talking about the 7.1 changes.

Seems YoshiP gave my character a lip reduction surgery. Which i personally don't mind since it looks closer to my character's pre-DT iteration. Besides that, i honestly can't tell what else was changed.

I'm willing to bet everyone saying they can't tell the difference didn't look at the images for more than 10 seconds

If a change is really so bad it warrants changing you shouldn't have to look at it for more than 10 seconds
