    I am still experiencing the issue on every startup, but i am able to start the game like every 10th try, so i end up killing the task if it doesnt load up and try again. It's quite anoying but i dont have much option to continue troubleshooting.

    We apologize for any inconvenience experienced when trying to play Final Fantasy XIV. For us to better assist you, please respond with the following information:

    What Platform are you using? (Steam/Windows/Mac/PS4 etc.)

    Could you provide the exact error message received, if any?
    Are you running any additional programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
    Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters?
    When the issue happens, is the PC over heating at all?
    Were any update or changes made to the PC around the time of the issue?
    Does this issue occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?

    All steps taken to resolve the issue:

    Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.

    Hello, after downloading the latest patch today I once again had the same problem: Initially the game loaded until the starting screen, then froze, and I had to force close it. After 2 attempts it froze immediately after starting the game in the launcher right before the Square Enix logo should appear. I disconnected my controller (playing on laptop), closed other programs like Steam or Discord, restarted my laptop, etc. In the end I just waited for about 15 minutes on that black screen and eventually the game started. No problems with logging in. I reconnected my controller, again no problems.
    So in the end, it seems like the game simply takes an unreasonably long time to start right after a major patch download.
