Screen Turning Black after Launch

Heya!

Since today im experiencing a strange issue, after Boot my Game will just not load, it stays in black screen until it stops responding. I checked if something strange is happening or ressources are at a limit, but the system is kinda almost in idle:

First i thought it would be Update related so i redownloaded the game, it did not fix it
-Reinstalled Graphics / CPU Driver with the AMD utilitys
-Checked different Games Booting
-FF is on the main system NVMe



Is there any way to get some logs or something to see whats happening?

I'm having exactly the same issue on an Asus Intel core i9, nvidia geforce rtx studio laptop. I'm not playing through steam btw.

I've been having the same problem, it was runbing just find yesterday but since this new patch dropped I can't get in, even after I reinstalled game it still havent able to even get into the game/past this black screen.

Hello. I have played the game, after several tries it suddenly worked, i probably needed like 15 tries for it to suddenly do something. If it worked and i close game to try again it will not work. Im in the same loop right now trying to login but i am trapped in blackscreen.

Most anoying stuff ever, but you might give it some tries if you have the patience to at least enjoy the new content

Just confirming this is happening to me as well. I managed to get the game to load beyond the black screen twice at random, but both times the game promptly crashed within three minutes. There was no error message, it simply closed down without any fanfare. I never even got into the area I was loading into. Have tried a full reinstall of all patches and the same thing is happening. It worked fine prior to the patch on Tuesday.

Using a Windows 11 laptop, and the Steam version, for the record. Intel Core i5-12450H processor, NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3050 GPU.

I added my info just in case someone on the support side is trying to figure out if this is a widespread problem or not. Since every bit of info can help. Sadly nothing I managed to try has worked though again, I did get past the black screen at random, so you might get lucky just with persistence, if you don't get crashes.

This is also happening to me.

Everything I have seen online is referencing Steam; but I do not use that. Reinstalling / Rebooting the game does not resolve it. Previously; running as admin made the game work (this happened right after DT release) but this patch has entirely killed the game. Did anyone find any work around or see any updates from Square Enix? They do not seem to have noticed/added any notes that they are aware of this.

If you're looking for a fix this ain't it.

I was having this black screen issue and then went through a whole reinstallation process, tried to access the game from another device, and even resubbed for another 180 days.

After all of this I don't get a black screen, the game either crashes or perpetually shows me a loading screen after picking my character.

EDIT: Made a new character and they work with no trouble. My main character is effectively a crash machine.

Update for me: after restoring the game file data through the config menu in the launcher I had to wait out the black screen after starting the game for ~5min. Then got logged in fine and have logged in and out successfully without issue (except that the game seems stuck after exiting but crashing then is currently less of an issue). Now I only have the ps4 controller issues left
