Yeah, I would imagine it would be like they only give back memories to only those who want them back.I feel like this is the 'wrapped up in a neat bow' ending, but I'm not sure Alexandria's gonna get that. Most countries in the game haven't gotten that; they're left with lingering flaws and wounds that aren't cleanly resolved (probably because they wouldn't lead to a boss fight), to come back to later. Hell, that's what all the Endwalker role quests were about. I'd say the only nation that gets to walk away happy with everything is the Crystarium, and... honestly, it's a big reason why I don't much like the Crystarium.
I suspect that the situation with the Endless and people's memories of the departed are gonna factor in, though. It won't be easily resolved, especially because the Arcadion is building on the notion that the memory situation is still there, but it's one of my leading suspects for where I think this storyline's gonna lead.
