I liked it. Seeing Alexandria cope with death for the first time is excellent. When Wuk Lamat tried to comfort the sad child I just knew some people were going to be screaming and crying about her existing, but I thought it was perfect: She saw someone upset, tried to help them, but didn't actually know how so may have actually made things worse. She's not the Perfect Mary Sue people say she is, she's just a regular person trying her best.

Even as a Lamaty'i fan, I was glad to have some time away from her to hang out with Koana. Base MSQ shoved her in people's faces so much, it's no wonder some people came away hating her.

I thought the resolution of Koana's tragic past was cheesy, but it's a Final Fantasy game so I wasn't really expecting anything more. Sometimes I wish this game was sprite-based like the SNES Final Fantasies; then people might be more forgiving of silly plots like this. Also, jumping in-between a giant monster and a little baby rroneek? LOVE that for him.

One more MSQ thought, on a topic I've seen a lot of people confused by:

A lot of people are going "Why would Koana risk his life for a cow???" They're missing the whole point of the Mehwahhetsoan storyline. The Hhetsarro see the rroneek as more than beasts; they see them as family. This was explicitly said prior to the solo duty. When Koana jumped in to protect the rroneek calf, from a Hhetsarro viewpoint it was the same as if he had jumped in to protect a little Miqo'te child. The whole scene very effectively shows that he accepts and embraces the views of the people he serves as Dawnservant.

What do I think of MSQ 7.1? Meh... I'll know the answer in 6 to 8 months...
The Endwalker-style atmosphere seems to me to be a delurium on the part of the devs, and they often bring out that BGM of creepiness in place of the “Mystery” theme with 3 piano notes.

I didn't really expect anything, and I had to follow Koana, who feels like the protector of his people in suicide mode, He's getting off lightly with his broken spectacle glass, which will make him a viewfinder.
So these nomadic tribes are the stooges of the uh... cattle, since when are the cattle in charge?
I've always had zero sympathy for Neo-Alexandrians, but instead of accepting their grief, they prefer not to die, and one guy was struck dead by lightning, bad luck, you hadn't learned to be careful, like everyone else.
Well, I don't know what to think of the new Sphene and the one Y'shtola finds, I'll know in 6 to 8 months in 7.2.
And if not, I'd have been fun to learn that the mother has become a laboratory subject for the Rabbit-zilla.

The Real Sphene showing up has actually been hinted well back with both how we find the Original Otis in his mechanical body with his original soul/memories and encounter his duplicate in Living Memory later on as well as some garbled hints at the end of the Alexandria Dungeon that the original Sphene still existed (suggesting they'd successfully preserved her) and in this case it's possible the Original Sphene was stored in the system as a master backup incase things went sideways and who got released when the whole Meso System shutdown hence why when they shift to her PoV at the end of the MSQ she seems not only confused at her surroundings but seems to hint that she doesnt feel like her body is right either and likely could be in the same situation as the Original Otis was before his demise, her endless doppelganger that we fight was in fact a complete copy of her. As for her "evil twin" that shows up in Alexandria it's either the remains of the original system trying to reinitialise itself using a copy of sphene or another entity entirely using her form to take control of Alexandria for their own ends.

Well I expect we will meet her in some way but did not expect to actually meet her in 7.X directly. However, a interesting note from 7.0 is that....

we never ever see the Real Sphene in the final MSQ dungeon. We are always too far away or too late to actually meet and see the real Sphene so it is possible the real Sphene may have a completely different appearance but personality and values remain the same minus the part she will sacrifice the life of a entire civilization. I suspect part of the reason we are not shown Sphene appearance at the end is maybe because of this apsect about how AI Sphene was made being they may have gotten her peronality but they could not properly remake her appearance.
