Minimalist layout for housing?

They finally gave us a way to remove the pillars with the "minimalist interior design"

But it feels unfinished unless I'm missing an option to dye the stairs or switch their design?

There are huge chunks of white plain walls that border your regular wallpaper and white plain ceilings that you can't dye that really ruin the layout without you having to use multiple housing items to cover them?

Or am I missing some option?

I know they aren't done messing with interior design for housing, so hopefully soon they'll have the option to dye or remove it. They did hint at more designs to come.
I just want them to look like partitions personally.

They also mentioned about having in the interior being a different size of our choice! So if you have a small, it can be a medium or large on the inside. So we just gotta wait for now it seems.

I was wondering about that too. I do like the staircases and zero pillars, but not a fan either of those big undyable white borders at top and bottom of the walls. Puzzling! They're still working on housing so perhaps this is something they can someday change in the future?

I hope we get more versions later on, at the very least a versions of each housing region but without the pillars a such. Minimalist stairs and railing just dont work with what I had in mind...

I agree that I hope they change some of the options with the trim and stairs for the minimalist design. I was excited to finally change my interior once I had time to redecorate, but the massive white trim does not look good for the style I had in mind for the main floor, and the stairs don't look good with the designs I'm going for. I'm probably going to switch back to the Far Eastern for now, since I'd rather have the pillars than massive blank spots on my walls.

I was disappointed that this feature only exists for actual houses. It's not possible to do so in an apartment, nor is it possible in a private chambers.
It paints a very grim expectation for the slot increases and the ability to change the interior size only being limited to small, medium and larges as well... which it really shouldn't be. Especially considering the upgrading feature was first mentioned back in 5.X as "upgradeable apartments."

came here to say this. I was SO hyped to finally snag a small fc house on ada again after moving back from dynamis and redecorate, only to find out the only part of the house that can be done with the minimalist/no pillars style is the main area itself... why even bother rolling it out yet when it's half-baked :/
