Thread: 7.1 Wuk PTSD

It’s not even only wuk that makes me wanna rip my eyes out doing the story. Like bad as hell writing. No character development in any meaningful way. And the worst part completely killing the ending part of the base dawn trail story by bringing sphene back and make here a villain/mind controlled or just a more powerful evil computer program (she is just emet but with zero interesting writing and being shoved in at the 70 % of the story mark) Zooral ja didn’t even get a crumb of character development (still grumpy bad son and bad father) and just made a child as a reward for this women serving him…… like of even more character information for his mother.

And just like with EW, the game is going to see declining revenue quarter after quarter soon. Also forums are representative of the player population. They absolutely 100% are. The only thing defenders are right about is that the solution is to unsub. People need to mass unsub. If you do not like the story, combat, jobs, all 3, or something else...the devs only wish you'd stay on the forum and pay to scream in the void. If you've been waiting long enough for change and it hasn't happened, simply leave. And yes I am unsubbed.

Apologies, but wrong on all counts, even inadvertently acknowledged in this post. Given how the game has been increasingly successful throughout its lifetime, experiencing the usual cycle with post-expansion decline doesn't suggest in any way, shape, or form that it's "not doing well," but rather the opposite, that it's continuing the same usual trend (of every MMO, no less). It's also a significantly smaller decline than EW had, though EW's was partially inflated because the "WoW Exodus" was finishing up around that time, so EW started with a higher count that was never likely to stick around. The decline is essentially exactly the same as ShB saw (which is widely considered the "best" expansion), and with about a 50% higher playerbase in terms of pure numbers now in DT.

Put simply, the "damage" you are talking about doesn't really exist in the grand scheme of things. Every single decision a developer makes will naturally please some people and turn off others. That's basic reality. All that's happened here is the particular decisions made for DT are more likely turn off the very specific subset of the playerbase that likes to inhabit places like these forums, reddit, etc.. And no, it is NOT representative of the playerbase at large. There are specific types of people (someone will eventually say the quiet part out loud) that are much more likely to engage with video game forums, post ratings, etc.. DT is definitely not designed for them. The people it is designed for are less likely to be the ones hanging around here. Which is why the game population continues to be very healthy and recently exploded again with the release of the new patch.

In response to us asking why we were babysitting an overgrown child that isn't written to be believable, they somehow managed to make every character introduced in Dawntrail seem stupid and bizarre. Which is about the only thing remarkable about this bite-sized retread. The first act was bland to the point of being forgettable and the premise is headscratching, the second act is textbook goofy filler, and the third act is just an eyeroll. Not exactly instilling any confidence in future patches.

At least the dungeon's crazy, I guess.

This was actually funny, once the story got underway and it was shown she was getting normal amounts of screen time. But I’ll admit that whole scene I too initially groaned because she really did just happen to happen on us out of nowhere. So I thought it was going to be more of the same, especially how she also appeared at the perfect time to not only find us but to refer that one guy to the support group.

Still weird she just thought in her usual walk around the city meant she’d run into us eventually…I mean it did happen….but you’d think being top dog in charge she’d IDK send a letter to our cabin first. Or does wandering around until who she needs manifest before her how she operates even after becoming Dawn Servant

Is it really "out of nowhere", in context I mean, it's the capital city of the nation she is co-monarch of, she is known to try her best to stay close to her people so her wandering around during her free time makes sense, and WoL sat down to eat at one of her favorite restaurants in town, I just interpreted the scene as "She was going to grab lunch, then go personally meet WoL at their cabin right after, and a minor coincidence saved her time".

I don't think that's how Lamaty'l operates tbh, not with someone like WoL whom she outright says she considers to be like family, if you were an unknown envoy from another nation, sure, but WoL means more to her than just taking the cold yet practical route.

They weren't going to just write her out. The Poochie treatment was never going to happen. That being said, aside from the start, she's fairly backseat in this patch. The one time she tries to fix something through her relentless optimism, she's told to eat sand, so there's that.

I waited five months to watch cutscenes with endless chatter about rroneek grazing patterns. These people have completely lost the plot, both literally and figuratively. Meanwhile, none of the aging core systems of the game have been even slightly improved in ten years. Clean house and find a new team.
