Thread: Controller not recognized after 7.1 update?

I got an in-game reply today from reporting the problem on FFXIV.

They pointed me to https://support.na.square-enix.com/ and told me to figure it out with the Knowledge Base.

Apparently they don't think this is a problem with the patch and aren't inclined to help.

I don't know if anyone is having issues with the DualSense, but you can update your DualSense with Sony's official PC software now. Though looks like it's specifically PS4 controllers having trouble.

- go in game and add a not-steam game
- choose FFXIV
- launch FFXIV from the steam app
the DS4 controller will be launched as a x360, but working as intended.

I have the same issue with my PS4 Dualshock... I've tried restarting the game, my PC, removing it from recognized Bluetooth devices and reconnecting... nothing's changed the situation. It does work with a USB cable, but I'd prefer not to rely on them because sometimes a tug or twist on the cable can lead to problems with the connection, with catastrophic results if I'm in a more difficult duty >_>

Has anyone found a solution for PS4 controller not working with bluetooth i dont play on steam but my charger port on mine is pretty much bad and won't stay connected unless held a specfic way?

I haven't had an issue with mine connecting since 7.1 and I think it's because I use DS4Windows, it's just a little program that remaps the controller inputs as a virtual Xbox controller which some games play nicer with. You can change the button layout in XIV to reflect PS4 buttons if you can't wrap your head around the xbox layout like me.

I started using it years ago because without my game always used to detect a "Wireless Controller" but no inputs from it, DS4W was the solution - I've just stuck to it since. Before 7.1 I did used to get both the Wireless Controller (that doesn't work) and the Xbox controller in my XIV options, but I don't think I've seen the non-DS4W controller since patch...

Anyone found a workaround/fix yet for this?
