Have you restarted the game? First run it didn't recognize my controller (XBox Series Wireless Controller) but then I logged out and back in again and it worked.

I can't speak for anyone else, of course, but I've restarted the game and my computer several times.
As mentioned in another thread
OS: Window 10 with current updates
Launcher: FFXIV Launcher, not Steam
Connection type: Bluetooth connection
PS4 Controller Model: CUH-ZCT1U and CUH-ZCT2U
- Both worked while still playing 7.0
- "Device Not Located" after 7.1 update
- Computer sees the controllers, other games see/use the controllers, FFXIV cannot see the controllers.
- Controller is detected while connected via USB, but my USB ports are broken so they don't keep connected... so I need the Bluetooth to work.
- PS5 controller (model CFI-ZCT1W) works just fine, Bluetooth and USB.
- I have also tried using a 3rd party exe to see if that would get it to work, DS4Windows - no change
- I should mention the exe was last used years ago before PS4 support was added native to many recent games
- Turned on/off Bluetooth on the computer - no change
- Unplugged and plugged back in the Bluetooth adaptor - no change
- Rebooted computer - no change
this just started happening to me a few minutes ago. won't recognize my ps4 controller or my ps5 one and BOTH are wired controllers and not bluetooth. and it has been working fine for ages and only started after 7.1 patch today. wondering wtf is going on.
same here.. D:
anyone find a solution for it?
For now:
- open steam app
- go in "GAME" and "add a not-steam game"
- choose FFXIV
- launch FFXIV from the steam app
the DS4 controller will be launched as a x360, but working as intended.
(P.S. I take as granted you have steam and you have the controller already set with steam)

I have 10,000 needles,
I'm not a weaver,
and I'm not scared to use them.
Oh sweet this works!For now:
- open steam app
- go in game and add a not-steam game
- choose FFXIV
- launch FFXIV from the steam app
the DS4 controller will be launched as a x360, but working as intended.

Thank you!
I have the same issue with my PS4 Dualshock... I've tried restarting the game, my PC, removing it from recognized Bluetooth devices and reconnecting... nothing's changed the situation. It does work with a USB cable, but I'd prefer not to rely on them because sometimes a tug or twist on the cable can lead to problems with the connection, with catastrophic results if I'm in a more difficult duty >_>
Having the same issue spent about 45 minutes trying to connect and disconnect.
Settled on plugging it in but is definitely not a ideal situation.
I just logged and and I'm having the same issue. Win 11 23H2, PlayStation DualShock 4 Controller. Hopefully they get this fixed soon
