Controller not recognized after 7.1 update?

I'm one of those weirdos who only uses controllers and I just hopped online after the update and the game straight up doesn't recognize my controller. Disconnected it and reconnected it (PS4 via bluetooth). Restarted computer, etc. Still nothing.

I just played this morning with no issues so it isn't the controller suddenly dying.

This is super annoying as I work full time and was looking forward to doing the new content with friends after work and I never, ever, ever desired or thought about tilt functionality. I would rather just be able to play, and something that could break my ability to use controller be left to a smaller update...

Edit: If i use a micro usb cord it is recognized but as soon as it is unplugged the game thinks the controller is gone. No issues with other programs. Hopefully this is fixed soon as I need the port for other things, which is why I use a wireless controller lol

Also, I did swap to the new settings specifically for PS4 touch pad controller just out of curiosity but it doesn't recognize it at all and also won't react to button configuration, etc.

Yes a problem on both my Computers one running Windows 10 and another Windows 11. System sees them but not the game. I've been able to play by hard connecting and not using bluetooth.

Same. Says "Device not located". Works fine in other games, so there's no issue with the connection. Haven't tried with cable, this is via Bluetooth.

Edit: Tested with Xbox One controller via bluetooth and that works fine.

Least i know that if you boot up a unreal 5 game while playing it will kill the controller for FFXIV.

Also had an issue where i had to disable the controller before starting the game or get stuck with a black screen.

same issue.. it does not detect original dualshock4 on certain USB port & bluetooth after patch. last played yest was ok.

i switched to a diff USB port (should be from diff bus and its ok)

same thing happening on original dualsense5 and xbox controller (model 1914)

edit:
for wired connection also its a little unique.. on a single bus (all the port to the CPU) --> when i plug out all USB devices (KB n mouse) and only plug in controller.. it works.
the moment i replug mouse or keyboard at neighboring port.. controller goes off.

so now my workaround is KB and mouse i just connect to CPU ports (at the back) and controller to chipset ports (the one i wired to the front)

I could go along with this... but I rebooted the computer after playing a game and it still says "Device Not Located"

This is also not just a slim few, looking in all posts is showing even other regions having the same thing with their PS4 controllers.

Edit: PS5 controller connects fine with Bluetooth, so that may be an option for those with one and want to keep their wireless setup.

Also a player that has used Dualshock PS4 Controller via bluetooth only to log on after the update to find it no longer works. Just has "Device Not Located" greyed out. I hope it gets fixed soon because i have only ever used the controller to play this game lol

I use a PS4 Shock Controller with Windows, no Steam. Windows sees my controller fine, but the game doesn't recognize or respond to it.

I don't know if it's related, but the game also doesn't shut down properly. It goes to a black screen before getting stuck. I have to kill the process manually.

Have you restarted the game? First run it didn't recognize my controller (XBox Series Wireless Controller) but then I logged out and back in again and it worked.
