    Why are they so weird about machinist?

    I have a crazy theory that machinist isn't getting tweaked to quell in fighting at the office on how to design and balance it. there has to be one old head who's insistent the selfish dps needs to be inline with the weakest dps's in the game because it's phys ranged like them. This person was so offended in Heavensward when people complained double phys was op that he vowed to never let them be strong again. then we have employee 2 who actually plays the game and listens to the players and fights for stuff like full metal field, the best capstone in the game. employee 2 is why we have drills and saws. employee one is why auto crossbow having a reset on ogcd's is deemed broken and not allowed. When these two but heads it gives the rest of the team a headache so yoshi dictates machinist must change as little as possible.

    I unfortunately have given up on any hopes of any kind of anything with this job now and this was my first one when I came into the game. It's such a shame because it had such a cool identity and idea but they can't seem to figure out what to do. Every time. Every expac. MCH sits there in exile booted from PFs, doing the least amount of damage, for nearly an entire expansions worth of time. Just delete it and put me out of my misery already.

    They have not a single time, not once listened to MCH feedback here, so I'm not exactly surprised.

    When they decide to nuke all the wrong things and rework it, it's on their own volition.

    The role is fine. They need to stop homogenizing casters into rphys and bring back stormblood-era encounter design. If you look at ARR, HW, SB, and even early ShB, there are unique mechanics that are best solved by rphys, as well as a plethora of mechanics that screwed over casters individually, melee individually, even things like Ravana's 'seeing' barriers that forced rphys to move around the boss like they're melee because of how it worked.

    If the devs actually fix encounter design, which DT so far is a resounding 'no' to fixing it, then the rphys tax on damage is fine. But they're doubling down and forcing casters to play like phys ranged, and I can only presume getting confused that it makes classes like rphys and rdm/smn awful because they're being taxed for things that don't matter in modern FFXIV.

    I mean if you look around as of patch 7.1, they are being weird about most DPSes. I'm still baffled at how most of the job changes got the go ahead. Someone check if Yoshi-P hasn't been replaced by an alien.

    I will say that MCH could have leaned in the engineer fantasy a but more. I get the gunslinger aspect (love me some gun-fu) but it's overall fantasy is so gun heavy.

    I would like MCH to have a state like RPR that is powered by the battery gauge that allows them to pilot a mech. Their regular combo changes to cool mecha anime attacks.

    To be honest the mech would be far much clunky and would add a condition in which the team would be able to overcome their stigma of Machinist needing to do low damage due to being physranged because Machinist would have to go into melee range and 'risk themselves' to use the mech abilities.
