Ive seen many bad takes in this game but removing charges from Nastrond just shows how the dev team dont play the game. If you guys want to make Dragoon less busy you guys have: Mirage Dive and 2 charges of Life Surge that doesnt make sense this skill to exist in the game of today. I dont know if anyone from SE will read this forum but if you do..... give us at least 2 charges of Nastrond. Dont ruin a perfect job.
these changes are so discouraging.. Genuinely feels like they don't make these changes for the target audience of the job. These changes cannot have been made with the dragoon playerbase in mind, there's just no way. I get removing a few oGCDs to allow for Feint, True North, etc., but taking away 2 stacks of nastrond is just too much. Either take Life Surge away to give us 2 extra weave slots, or at the very least give us 2 stacks of nastrond instead of only 1. Weave heavy burst windows is the core of dragoons identity, there's no reason to make it less busy purely for the sake of making it less busy. They've told us 8.0 we'll get more job identity things but then in 7.1 they make changes like this.

This is the kind of stuff I was dreading from the supposed Dragoon rework going from Endwalker into Dawntrail. Please do not just remove the amount of weaves from the job, that is what makes it fun to begin with. These new changes will feel awful to play. I was already annoyed at the lower amount of jumps with the removal of Spineshatter Dive, but the amount of weaves was the same as before so I didn't really mind that much.
I am starting to wonder if the job design team even plays the game anymore after what they did to Black Mage and Monk going into Dawntrail, and changes like the ones they just made to Dragoon are just making my suspicion grow. I don't think they actually know what makes playing these jobs fun. So many things recently just feel like they are out of touch.
Please please give the fun back to the job! Literally no DRG main was complaining about the weaving.
Since the alteration of the job gauge in Dawntrail, it irked me that Mirage Dive was just... still there. It no longer has a defined use so it's removal wouldn't have impacted many if anyone at all. This change grants players at level 70 a single burst of Nastrond. The change to Nastrond is either an oversight prioritising future job changes rather than the current iteration, based on anecdotal information or misguided attempt at QoL. While I understand the development teams intention of a more homogeneous class design, it can rob players of class identity and overall depth of interest in the class. A busy rotation is not a bad thing or an aspect to be shunned. It can be fun and engaging. Classes have their own appeal with playstyle, fashion and visuals, a busy rotation is what makes Dragoon fun and I would argue an integral part of it. It would be akin to reducing the amount of combinations a Ninja player can do or reducing the mana consumption of Black Mage fire spells. It may provide ease of access to new players and be defined as "QoL" yet paradoxically it provides little for a players retention or to be attracted to in terms of class design. I hope that Nastrond is altered back to its previous iteration of having 3 of them and that the notion that "Busy is bad and should be reduced" is not a universal goal applied to every class.
I made an account in the forums just to make a thread like this, it seems someone beat me to it. All i have to ask of you and the team yoshida-san is "why?" actually why?.
This change freaking sucks so bad.
I've been playing as Dragoon since HW and have been jerked around by SE and their changes to this class for 9 years. DT finally made DRG *fun* again for me, and *RIGHT* as I'm about to leave the game after another week or two of reclears, SE goes and ruins the class again just to leave a bitter taste in my mouth in the end.
Good riddance. RIP Dragoon. Hopefully SE will invigorate you once more u.u
Who are these changes for?
Is someone at the dev team trying to play a joke here? do they have that much disconnect? or are we gonna have to settle for getting the second Summoner of Melee jobs after Viper?
