Game randomly crashes, screen freezes or goes black. Sound continues.

Hi,

For a couple days I have been suffering these random crashes while playing FF XIV, where the screen either freezes or goes black and my monitors just go black, while the sound keeps working.
If I am in Discord I can hear my friends, but they cannot hear me when I talk and even my mouse and keyboard are not responsive.

I've tried uninstalling FF XIV and reinstalling.
I have updated my drivers to the latest version.
I have updated Windows 11 to the latest version.
I even uninstalled all software I had installed these last few days.

Yesterday, after uninstalling GIMP, I thought I had fixed it as it worked well and today also worked well, but it just happened again.

I've been watching tv shows, movies, using the browser and the computer for a lot of things, I have been playing other games (both in Steam and in their own platforms), and the issue never happened. It only occurs while playing FF XIV.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Please try the following:
- Try reinstalling the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (if applicable), preferably a clean install to remove any possible corrupted files.
- Please try adjusting/lowering the resolution.
- Please try running the game as an administrator.
- Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything.
- Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup. For the troubleshooting phase, please close the following programs as they may be causing interference:

NVIDIA GeForce Overlay
WhatsApp

- Reinstall game, if your system has multiple drives please try installing it to a different one.

Hello,

I have tried everything you said, still got the crashes.

I even did a full format of the pc, reinstalled Windows 11 clean, reinstalled FF XIV, I made sure to have all the latest drivers installed...still got a crash.

I don't know what else to do, because it only happens with Final Fantasy XIV, and it started happening randomly a few days ago.

Hello,
I have issues with the game since Yesterday's update...game crash in Dawntrail zones after 5 to 10 minutes, not able to do the new raid or dungeons ofc...
In the other zones, no problems at all.
And before the update everything was working fine !

Try following:

1. download Hwinfo Portable: https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
2. start it with "Sensors only"
3. Create a log. There are buttons in the bottom of the window.
4. play so for 20 minutes or until the game crashes.
5. upload the log somewhere so i can look into it. You can also zip it if it gets too big.

Game working fine now ! Just had game corrupted files.
If you have discord, join the one dedicated to FFXIV and you will find the way how to get it fixed.
