If you think Dawntrail dungeons are based around random rapid aoes it's because you're only looking for floor telegraphs to move out of and not at everything else in the room. Try reading cast bars, watching the boss animations and keeping an eye on knockback directions or additional enemies/objects outside of the arena. If the orange flashes under you and snapshots instantly it's not because you were 60 and lacked basic motor functions and reaction timing to move out of the aoe - it's because the aoe was already impossible to avoid. You missed information the game was trying to communicate through gameplay languages outside of "orange bad".

Claiming your FC had members who couldn't clear the Dawntrail dungeons is the biggest "never happened" story I've heard about XIV this month.

    Oh dear, the victimism lol.

Apparently there are players who feel that rather than having a discussion about this
Discussion? You'll accuse anyone asking not to make already easy content even easier of lacking empathy.

I guess we're not wanted because older people are "inconsiderate and entitled.
You're not wanted because you can't clear the content, by your own admission. I'd never join a clear savage PF when I can't do the mechanics. Does that not sound reasonable?

Everyone's more than welcome to use PF or ask their FC/friends for. But whenever that gets suggested (you can comb through other similar threads) it's crickets... even though it's a perfectly reasonable suggestion that is guaranteed to work. There are plenty of people willing to help.

When people claim that "when you reach Level X in this game it's reasonable to expect you can do Y," that's true in the abstract. But simply requiring more rapid reaction times every expansion means that more and more people will hit their skill cap. Apparently there are players who feel that rather than having a discussion about this, the preferable solution is to wave them bye bye. I guess we're not wanted because older people are "inconsiderate and entitled." Just ask any worker!

FWIW I cleared all the DT MSQ dungeons using Duty Support precisely because I dislike being carried and slowing down others. There are players even older than me in my FC who are unable to do so, and it is the required rapidity of movement in such dungeons that they cite as the problem.
I also want to add to that, I actually find the mechanics that rely on remembering patterns one after the other difficult because my memory is awful! It's mechanics that lay down a bunch of markers, orange tiles etc etc that I cannot keep up with.

Memory based mechanics aren't difficulty they just suck if you have bad memory.

I don't enjoy the constant aoe style mechanics they're employed so much in the new dungeons. Personally I clear them and don't go back they're not fun for me. Dungeons overall are not very efficient I prefer A rank hunts for tomes and other rewards and do a lot of pvp for xp.

As I noted, I have cleared all the DT MSQ content using Duty Support.

The idea that those who cannot currently clear the MSQ content are "unwanted" does not exhibit a great deal of empathy. And I don't recall ever seeing a MSQ dungeon in PF outside of minimum ilevel attempts or farming rewards.

Would it really be such a burden on you if, for example, Duty Support included an option to be rezzed by NPCs? That's the kind of discussion I think is helpful here. Not making bizarre accusations that there's a correlation between a person's age and how entitled and inconsiderate they are.

Agreed, and like reaction and processing times, short-term memory tends to deteriorate with aging.

I'm not even advocating that content should be made easier. There are many simple solutions that could be implemented as options in Duty Support. If a player wipes three times, double their health pool. Add NPC rezzes or multiple lives. None of these things have a negative impact on those who like a challenge. In fact they have no impact whatsoever on anyone but vindictive gatekeepers.

While I am someone with bad memory and find reacting to mechanics much more fun than trying (and failing) to memorize things, memorizing timelines like in an FF14 fight and keeping that information available is a form of difficulty too. Remembering things can be hard, remembering things under stress even more so (like during a test back at school).

Personally, though, I would like the game to give us a healthy mix of both reactive and memorization mechanics, not just one or the other. Rathalos and Rathalos EX were good examples of what you can do in FF14.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to disagree with Rathalos being a good example. While there is an argument to be made that it is an unique fight, the mechanics are a snoozefest.

In P1 the only "dangerous" thing is the tailswipe at the front/back for melee

On phase change it's the mounting and hide-behind-an-obstacle that's noteworthy. But nothing we haven't seen before as the mounting is an action-event.

P2 is literally "If he looks at you, step aside to dodge". There's nothing else! Yeah, a stack that leaves a puddle and a DoT, but it's not like we haven't seen that before either.

Oh and Healers being 100% useless in P2 ain't good either, but it is again unique in combination with the Potion that they give you as a Duty-Action.

Then you may have misunderstood me - i mean that the concept of what the Rathalos fights are (the way it feels less on rails and more reactive) is something FF14 could adapt more of. The mechanics themselves are very simple, yes, but that does not change the fact that Square could build upon what Rathalos started with new, actually interesting mechanics.
