I too, am in support of keeping the materia name. Also the recipe changes, and level requirements getting fixed, great great stuff.

I'm quite pleased with this, interesting that they are considering getting rid of the process gauge, I wonder how that's guna work.
Look forward to seeing more news in the future.
Edit:- Agree with keeping Materia synthesis as the name, it will bring a much needed Final Fantasy feel to the game.

Yes great news get that gauge out of here its long and annoying and the material name is cool.
Wow, this actually sounds great. Looking forward to it.
Great news, but I'd prefer something other than materia for the name.
Thank god, finally this is getting some major attention!!
I hope they're also looking at all the broken abilities we paid 12K guild marks for too, such as Perfection, Flawlessness, etc.
Thank you Farbine, I couldn't agree with you more here. This was way too complex, and the results for the effort were more than lame.I do not wish to see the Materia System develop into the synergy system from XI or atleast the one I remember. It was overly complicated and the benefits from it were minimal at best. I can assure you that killing 5 NMs and hoping you get what you want for a stone that grants +1 point of Defense against Birds will NOT go over well. Please consider this when making it.
RNG - Please, please narrow the affect of this in the code.
I'm not a huge crafting fanatic by any measure. In FFXI, my cooking was 100+. The last synths I ever did that game, I failed 4/12 on a level 12 bait recipe, on an elementally non-opposed day, facing success direction, as if any of that was ever demonstrated to have had an effect, but what the heck - never a single synth again after that ><
Incidently, I set a new record today with my leathercrafter, failing 17, yes 17, consecutive attempts on a leve that I've been doing now for 2 ranks, this with T1 support and food.
Anyhow, cheers!! As this game is so crafting-concentric, I can't wait for these changes.
Keep materia name!
The whole its a very impressive idea and I also aprove, at last i am excited again after a very long time.
Keep the good ideas coming.
P.S I also support that this should not be implemented like the FF11 version, that was not good for the reasons already explained by the guys before me.
If you add Materia, You have to add a Nail Bat.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
I like the Materia name, it brings back memories of FFVII. I would hope to see the ability of adding status effects to gear and weapons using a materia system.
Completely against this. Please do not dumb down crafting, its the only thing thats kept me playing while you guys are taking forever to "fix" the battle system. I am also against "gemming" Materia, w/e you wanna call it. youve seen this in almost every mmo, its a really generic way of customizing gear and im sure i can guess exactly how the system is going to be. because its been done more times then i can remember. gear has slots, materia has costs, match appropriately. there are ways of changing the system without catering to non crafters, you dont have to dumb down the recipes or instant synth, same with customizing gear, not every game needs "gems"
