I don't think a 'boycott' per se would work. I don't really know how it even could, since the devs clearly don't really care if we watch cutscenes or not as long as we still pay each month.

But I think we can find some closure in knowing that since the drop of DT in summer, the reputation of the MSQ (which was once called one of the best if not THE best MMO story there is) has suffered a lot. Which should not be a good thing for the dev team and ring some alarm bells.
Unfortunately, as they don't want or can change course right now...this is probably gonna get much worse over time.

    Well...you reap what you sow.

lol I don't really think you know what a tantrum is. But I am afraid to tell you that hitting esc a few times during a poorly written msq is not it. Try not reading everything in that angry inner voice social media has cleverly trained you to use to make you click more, you will find that doing so will sometimes make you realize that someone isn't angry or throwing a "tantrum" but feeling one of the many many other emotions that we all, or at least some of us, have. In this case, disappointment with a touch of melancholy.

Anyway, there is a lot more than WL that is the problem. The strict schedule, the lack of creativity, the ever decreasing writing quality, the continued homogenization of jobs. There is a lot going on here that SE just doesn't seem to care to correct. Plus sci-fi and the wrestling just are not my cup of tea. I am just saying, I have been here since the very beginning, I have stood with them through thick and thin, but they have used all their good will and the only thing keeping me subbed at this point is my house. However I have that sweet legacy sub and $7 monthly isn't that much. So I am willing to give them one last shot because there is still a small part of me that is hopeful the large sub drop off and the historically low ratings and reviews will be a wake up call. Skipping through one expac isn't an ideal sitiuation, but its doable just this once.

psst oh yeah, and I never stand around or afk in LL, nor have I made a purchase on mogstation. You know what they say about making assumptions. It's not a good look for you here on the forums. Or outside of it for that matter.

Are we still banging on about this? 4 months after the fact? Are you so deluded that you actually thought that if enough people threw a tantrum like whiny piss babies that they'd write out Wuk Lamat like Poochie?

Frickn...hells. It's not happening. If you don't like it, unsubscribe for two years. Come back in the next expansion. "I hAvE a HoUsE" if a house is keeping you paying a subscription YOU DON'T HATE WUK LAMAT ENOUGH.

Proof is in the pudding. Companies will care if they see sub numbers drop enough. Took the WoW Exodus for Blizzard to start to pull their heads from their butts. I mean, they're still chest deep, but somehow that's still an improvement.

Why would we want them to get rid of Wuk Lamat?
There's still several more patches we get to spend with her before she gets shelved like the other faction leaders, it'd be really jarring and disappointing if we suddenly stopped seeing Lamaty'i so early into Dawntrail.

Trust me a good majority of MSQ enthusiasts would celebrate if she fell into a ravine off screen

The only difference made will be people in-game seeing the camera symbol briefly.
    Skipping makes no difference.

Though likely you'll fall into the "I skipped, this story makes no sense", category.

Dawntrail is what I imagine the entire MSQ as a healer-main.

Not sure what you're referring to-- Wuk Lamat mentioning once or twice how talented her siblings are? That's not exactly an inferiority complex. A complex would require Wuk Lamat to nearly constantly doubt herself...she'd have to show a deep belief that she is simply not good enough vs someone else. That's just not what we got. If it was, maybe I need a refresher with some specific dialogue?

And again you can't conflate it with just general insecurity or anxiety. Someone simply doubting themselves after a traumatic event for example (the attack) is not an inferiority complex. Being proud of your brother and feeling he might be a better leader is not an inferiority complex. Trying to act brave or tough does not automatically mean inferiority complex.

I would actually argue if she did have a true and real complex, the narrative would be completely different. We would have spent a while undoing her persistent belief that she is fundamentally incapable of assuming leadership. Unfortunately she believed she had the potential and showed willingness to compete out of the gate before the expansion ever began.

Otherwise I stand by my original claim that Yoshi P is not familiar with the actual story beyond what was conceptualized in storyboarding, or perhaps has a very shallow idea of inferiority complexes that trivializes the reason the diagnosis exists.

If she's surrounded by flattened characters, but still has to be present in every conversation, she could be the best character in the world and it wouldn't matter. While DT's new characters are genuinely interesting and vibrant, and I think she had good chemistry with them, Wuk Lamat has to stop to have a conversation with either the wol (who rarely speaks back) or the twins (who felt like cardboard cutouts the whole time) in nearly every quest. Wuk Lamat is a motivated character, but a lot of the characters that we expect better from around her were not, which hurt a lot of the scenes she was in. That made much of the dialogue repetitive and pointless. But making her a scapegoat is a reflex, and imo an unfair one. Taking Wuk Lamat out doesn't make DT a better story, because most of the things she had to interact with were uninteresting.

The writers were awkward and squeamish about including the Twins, Urianger, and to an extent even Krile into DT's story. Which is a shame, because they all had ways they could relate to each other-- the twins have their connection to Urianger that could have been compared to Wuk Lamat's connection to her siblings. Krile did get to share her thoughts on Galuf, in regards to being adopted-- but not even the fact that he died... I thought Thancred was well-implemented, because his content felt both specific to him as a character and progressive for his character. G'raha's unexpected reflection on the moral complexity of his actions as the exarch was a welcome surprise. But it was thin on the ground.

The point is, Yoshida is correct to not scapegoat his staff and story assets that they have invested time and money in. Instead it sounds like they're going to respond to feedback about the half-hearted scions and remain committed to their ideas. I feel like they have correctly identified the problem, but time will tell if they can win over players whose attention they lost. I'm not suggesting there's no problems with DTs story, but this constant whining about Wuk Lamat is just dumb and starting to get annoying.
I kinda agree with this. Wuk Lamat isn't the problem per se, and the writing for the other characters is really weak. There *were* some problems with reality bending around Wuk Lamat to make the illusion of her growth in the second half of the story, but that has nothing to do with Wuk Lamat the character, and more with a complete and utter failure to portray growth.

Wuk Lamat was not portrayed well. At all. I didn't find her likable after the first zones. At all. But she's a symptom of a much bigger problem. One they *seriously* need to fix.

Going back to the OP--how do you even boycott cutscenes? It's not like skipping them affects the bottom line at all.
