The intent seems to have been to increase the pace of matches by making it harder to stall with guard/recuperate spam but considering how easily you could get completely deleted in a blink of the eye already I'm a little dubious about how this is going to affect things overall.
These changes will definitely require everyone to play smarter and more purposefully. Blindly rushing in with no plan will be very, very easily punished.
