    Speaking of Yoshitaka Amano.

While I don't know who the artist for those illustrations are, it shows just how good those old Amano designs are, and I want to see a lot more of this in game than yet more jackets and slacks. The moonward sets were great and some of my favourite tome gear in a while, but I'd also like to see more of that kind of aesthetic in the level 1 all classes gear too. That's not to say we haven't had any; Island Sanctuary gave more interesting sets like the Baronial set and the Felicitous set, as well as the Happiness set from early in Endwalkers life, they just feel drowned out by everything else.
6 is kind of an interesting case because it's also when Nomura started getting character design work, specifically Edge and Setzer(which started as job concepts he pitched for 5). He obviously became much more involved in character design after that, which is also when the more modern(or silly, like Lulu's belt dress) outfits started becoming more prominent.

He was also involved with 5 monster design from memory, some of the enemy sprites are eerily close to some FF7 characters.

Even FFX I'd put as more high-fantasy, just not medieval fantasy.

It's definitely true that a lot of glams are "modern" these days, and while I don't mind some of that...it's a little overdone, to be sure.

I give it more of a pass in DT because you have something like Alexandria where you could say that aesthetic is "on brand".

On the other hand, it was a little weak for the seasonal event.

I disagree on 11, they would fit in fine.

I would prefer to get t-shirts like that over the 100% modern stuff.

You know, it would be much nicer if you actually showed the real trousers. Darbars Bottoms of Healing looks like this, for example, which is not "just another pair of slacks".

When it comes down to it, of course, slacks and jeans look pretty much the same except for the materials used. There's only so many ways one can attach leg tubes.

Why so many, though? Most of the 'sets' you displayed are for different jobs. Darbar Bottoms, as an example, belong to a healer's set, a caster's set and an aiming set.

Kind of tunic vibe, I don't want to remove stuff people like but 100000% prefer this as well
