    Reinstall windows and player settings

    I was installing a new Windows. I had the game installed on another drive. Unfortunately, I enter the game and there are no settings, especially the hotbar skills. I was convinced, just like in WoW, that the game saves all the player settings on the server side or in the game directory.

    Setting the hotbar skills for each class now will be a nightmare. Where is the game data saved? And can the developer change anything, like WoW has?

    Hi Teryrula,

    There are two places where you can backup your character data to the servers.

    1st, at the character selection screen in the game, there's the option, "Backup Client Settings" it's the two little gear icons to the right of "New Character". There, you can Upload/Download your existing client settings data, as well as restore Macros.

    2nd, There's the "Character Settings Backup", this is found next to your characters name at the characters selection screen, by clicking on the "character with a gear icon behind it". Here you can also upload/download your saved character settings data, as well as restore settings. such as HUD Layout, hotbars, gearsets etc.

    Alternatively;

    In the game launcher, if you select the gear icon for the options, under advanced settings, you can find the Backup Tool, here you can backup your data to an alternate drive as well as restore data from a backup folder.

    Hope this information helps!

    without more info i can only assume certain things but when you reinstalled, did you save the old windows install/ drive? the game data is stored here "X:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn". if that path is still there on the other drive, you just need to copy the folder over to where it needs to be on the new drive, and the game should be able to pick up the old saved data in theory.

    Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    We are glad to hear that you are no longer experiencing this issue. Unfortunately if you cannot locate or did not backup the settings prior, we are unable to assist with recovering them as they are stored locally if not backed up. If you have any more questions or concerns, please make a new thread in the technical support forums.

    This thread will be moved to "Closed Concerns”. Thank you once more for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!
