Ok jokes aside, I do think it was a very poor choice on her part tbh (and it could imply that she had more influence on the story's writing process than I hoped, rip).

But hey at least now we know what the song's inspiration was: Musical.

So it seems, despite certain claims, not liking Smile doesn't make you a terrible person after all. Phew!

The sad thing is that Smile could've been good. Not at the train bomb, but in general it could've been good.

I think it was a good idea given the theme they wanted to have for the expansion (happiness after all the depression we'd been through), it just needed to fit slightly better somehow. It was alright for the credits. It just felt like it came out of nowhere everywhere else. Maybe it needed something to just lead into it gradually?

Probably like the vast majority wondering during that specific moment. The song is actually nice, but the moment used is awful..lol.

I felt the same exact way about the ending of Stormblood, it was really badly placed. Though the song and idea was great, replacing the Garlemald version with the Gyr Abanian version after the fight was done.

I think either they didn't see a problem in forwarding this "commission" to the end product. Or it was a case of that "going to the barber, absolutely hating the product, but not wanting to offend the barber after the botched haircut." which would be a very japanese thing too.

Agreed. I actually liked it during the Credits and thought it fit pretty nicely there....
Which sadly made the fact that it wasn't well suited to the bomb-train scene all the more glaringly obvious, and made me wish that the end credits was the only time it'd played!

The hate of Smile feels so overblown. It's not a musical marvel but it's so harmlessly cheesy.

Can people just dislike things without pretending that it's the end of the world that a thing they don't like exists.
